Just had a update from Openreach to say the cab I am on is not going to get a upgrade time to move home I think,

Would it be worth contacting Bt infinity or plusnet or sky about the lack of fiber optic fttc broadband in cwmbran

Not really, wouldn't waste your time.

At this late juncture you're probably better off waiting for Superfast Wales to do its thing.

Well after all the waiting had fttc installed yesterday in Cwmbran went with SSE cost me £25 per month for unlimited up to 76mb inc phone line
