Interesting news - one of the PCPs we recently discussed as being economically not viable in Belmont avenue has been upgraded to fibre this week - Power is in place, as is the Fibre cab. not commissioned yet.

Evening all,

Not been on for a while, but in the process of moving house and it looks like ill be able to get FTTC.

Ill be hanging off Cab 16 on Three Elms Road - and the house is about 100m from the Cabinet!

Ill go back and read through the numerous threads about FTTC in the Hereford area.

Should i have any concerns with regards to Cab 16 and FTTC?

I think the biggest quandry i have is whether to go with BT or Sky???

Cheers
Aidi

100m from cab 16 should be good. There are other vendors to consider too.

I have just ordered mine through Sky (40Mb/10Mb - Unlimited)

Sky do offer a truly unlimited package with no line profiling or restrictions on NNTP or P2P which for me is an important factor, IIRC BT/Plusnet possibly do, I was originally with those and ended up falling foul of their FUP policy and decided to switch to Sky about 3 years ago and I can honestly say they have been perfect for me.

I also decided to go with sky as I have Sky TV & telephone package also so after a quick call to customer retentions with a poverty plea I've managed to negotiate a package saving that essentially voids the increase FTTC would have added (£12.50p/m) waived the activation fee (£50) and a small saving on top for 12 months.

Install date 03/06

Installed today and working perfectly, couldn't ask for a better install - engineer was first class and even moved my master socket at my request so I could put the BT modem where I wanted it.

Anybody have any info on cabinet 89 to which I'm connected too in bobblestock? cabinet 73 (which is much closer to me than cabinet 89) is active but no signs of any work being carried out to upgrade to 89.
