A question on upgrading to FTTC which I hope someone can help with.
I live in an area which is about to go live with FTTC (I hope, a few re-schedules but all cabinets in place and Openreach now saying accepting orders). The broadband availability checker tells me I can have FTTC from 30th June.
I am in a semi-rural location just under 1200m from the cabinet by road according to Google maps. The BT availability checker estimates I will get 9.3Mbps and also says I would get 6 Mbps with a range of 4-8Mbps with ASDL2+
I consistently and reliably have an 11.5-12Mbps ADSL2+ connection. Could I anticipate better than 9.3Mbps with FTTC or will the technology differences at the line length work against me? When my cabinet is fully enabled are further line tests run to give better certainty on the likely speed before I would place an order?
