Trying to find good FTTC isp options

Not all that easy as my phone is currently BT & I dont pay that bill so its out of my hands & almost everywhere seems to want you to get the phone from them, even those reselling the BT product. One of the more unlimited Infinity options tempts me but checking the speed checker today its started saying I'd only get 27.7Mb whereas a few days ago it was saying around double that.

I'm currently with Be but as they got bought by Sky I doubt they'd be happy to provide a FTTC connection & leave my phone alone. So it looks like BT may be my only real choice even though the speed seems slashed now, maybe its a strange weekend slowdown or something I can only hope.

Any input from people that switched or are in the middle of cemtemplating it would be appreacited

I think Plusnet do fttc-only.

Yes you can but they don't actively promote it.

Do they have a slow down certain traffic policy? & would they want me to switch the phone to them as well? as I'm not the one that pays that bill its a concern. Big concern lately is the dropping speed estimate as well, last week it was saying around 45Mb & yesterday it changed so 27.7 which seems odd, still better than the 3.5 I get atm though

Yes, I noticed today that my estimate had dropped from 58Mbps to 52.
My real sync remains just over 70, with profile and speeds just under 70.
Upstream estimate from 19 to 13; currently getting 18.5.

Are Plusnet any good? they seem to be slightly cheaper than BT, nice that someone reselling BT's product is undercutting them, are they exactly the same other than price though, more agresive traffic management etc.. or the same or even better? they weem to have an option that keeps a BT line for the phone (from the way its phrased) might be worth thinking of if so

Plusnet are actually a wholly owned, independently operating subsidiary of BT!
