I'm on the NEWICK exchange in East Sussex, fingers crossed BDUK funding might come this way. I followed my phone line and as far as I can work out the Cabinet it is connected to is 2km away. I read that in FTTC deployments that the FTTC cab are co-located with existings ones. Does this mean that I doomed not to get FTTC VDSL BB before I've even started?

The DSL checker will tell you what cabinet you are connected to, if any.

Hummmm Checker Say "Cabinet 2" which makes me think that this is probably back at the exchange itself 4km away. So I guess that unless they re-organize the network around here then to FTTC is some what pointless?

Fantastic. As the crow flys that's 1000m to me. Problem is that my line goes along the road heading towards the tea room and then takes a sharp right down the side of Chailey Heritage School. I don't know when it turns left again! Need to do some plodding about to see where it goes hopefully its not a 2km detour !!

There is no detours around there. It's all straight down the 272.

I walked east along the 272. Poles on left. At the end of the Heritage the lines cross the road and go south between the School and some allotments. I'll go have another look tomorrow, 1000 m to the tea rooms would be great if it's straight along the 272, that would be a respectable BB speed. Thank again for the info. Here's to East Sussex signing the BDUK deal with Openreach !

Depends what you call respaectable.
A darn sight better than ADSLx I would expect, but nothing like 40Mbps. There's a graph around somewhere ....
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.4/16.8Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
