FTTC (HG612) Line reset procedure?

Sorry for this post but I can't remember (Or find!) the correct line reset procedure for the HG612.

The one where you connect things in a specific order and wait a certain amount of time before doing so etc...

Anyone have the info / link handy please?

I saw somewhere, you pull the power plug out of the modem and put it back in again. Works for me.

well its easy to reset but if you mean the most DLM friendly way then a power cycle is reccomended.

DIcsonnect your PC from the hub,

Disconnect hub from Modem

Disconnect Modem from Master Socket.


Wait a few minutes - 10 to 15 if you can.


Power up Modem and Power up hub.

Wait for modem to be fully booted - about 2 minutes. Connect Modem to Master socket.

Wait until the DSL light is on and stable.

Check that the hub is fully booted - might be a little longer. Connect Modem and Hub.

Wait 30 another minute and connect the PC and other devices.



Yes, it is possible to switch everything on at once and the firmware in each device should deal with the various task but especially when trying to fault find or get a clean boot, I always like to minimise the load on the processor in each device and allow it to stabilise before moving on.

I disagree (based on what others have said to me). The first two are unnecessary, but won't do any harm.

It is best to power down the modem rather than disconnecting from the master socket (or before disconnecting if you need to disconnect).
That stops the modem seeing any errors generated by the disconnect process, and gives it a chance to send a 'last post' message to the cabinet.


Powering down can only be done by pulling the plug somewhere.
