Been on infinity2 for several months now new to our area and have been enjoying full speed, now noticed regular speed tests with think broadband and speedtest.net showing around 60meg.
Its a10% drop line profile set at 76mb according to bt wholesale line test.
Is this possible due to customer take up causing crosstalk/interference on my line or another reason btw 300m from fttc.

Cross talk would give you a lower sync rate, and hence a lower IP profile, which you don't have.

Perhaps its time to unlock that modem if it's an HG612, if it isn't you can get one off eBay.
You'll then be able to get the stats and see whats going on, or at least if you post them someone will take a look for you.

Looks like you have FEC & interleaving turned on, presumably caused by the rate of errors that you were incurring. This will eat a chunk of the attainable - usually around 20% - and add a chunk onto the latency - usually 8ms.
Can you get the output from a telnet session, and leave the modem running a while before you take the stats? It'd be useful to see the error rates.
The output from the "--pbParams" option and the "--stats" option would be best.

Yes ping rate seams to have increased.
how do u output a telnet session do I need to install any software.
|
|
|

Managed to get telnet up and running. I want to plot graphs and stuff. downloaded apps can they run standalone from dos window tool supplied connecting to the 192.168.1.1 address
Or do i have it all wrong.

The telnet app is good for getting detailed text out, for reference later and for posting here.
However, the long-term logging/graphing apps are good for making graphs to visualise the changes - either as one-shot snapshots, or regular polling. There are two around, but I don't have the links to either...
One is from Bald_Eagle, which I use, and the other (I think) is DSLStats.
Hopefully someone will give you the links...

Not a lot of time, but you certainly have FEC/interleaving on.
DLM has allowed a maximum delay of 10ms, and has set an INP of 4.00. Those figures are both slightly higher than the standard (which is 3.00 and 8ms), suggesting you are experiencing more interference than the norm, and were getting too many errors.
The overhead applied by FEC is 12/56, or 21.5% of the bandwidth, which will explain a drop in sync speed.

Turning the OR modem on and off all the time will not do your connection any good whatsoever, I did it because I had a flaky connection, ended up far worse than the initial installation, went do from 74 Mbps to 58 Mbps, and since it was just at the level that I was promised before having it all installed there was nothing I could do, I did eventually have an IP profile reset after X visits from OR, and that was only because the DLM gave me a ping of 35ms + and latency and jitter became a real issue, it to 12ms but now settled at 20ms and my speeds are 73.5 Mbps and 19.9 Mbps, and thats real time speeds, not a speed test.
Good luck, just leave it alone for about 1 - 2 months then complain.

There's definitely a reduction in speed and timing performance i will give it a week and re test the stats. average ping rate was around 25ms before issues now its 35-40 i may contact openreach but there is people in my street getting fttc services so it may be crosstalk.
Thanks guys for the help and advice the reduction in speed ain't a huge issue but ping rate as well not too pleased about.
Regards
George

Looks ok - you're firing on all cylinders. Just a bit noisy.

Thanks for checking 60 meg is still is a good speed maybe it will improve if vectoring is introduced.
