Goater666, the fibre cab for PCP27 is not going to be installed until at least Winter 2014, possibly early 2015 as they cannot access the area until the United Utilities sewer works complete in December 2014. So, don't expect to get FTTC until Spring 2015, possibly longer.

As expected really. Not expecting it until summer 2015....

You could well be right!

A few cabs in the Manchester Blackfriars area that had 31/05/2014 dates against them have now slipped out as far as 31/03/2015. It is very likely that Cab 27 will slip further out to late 2015 if not beyond that! The UU major sewer works where cab 27 is situated will prevent OpenReach from doing anything until the works complete around 31/12/2014.

Cab 132 looking to go live very soon. Telent were back late last week installing the earth rod. Looks like cab's earth impedance now checks out okay since the earth rod went in, as Telent were back again yesterday with the fibre cab door open and a guy connected to the DSLAM on a laptop (so it's now powered up) He was probably performing diagnostics to sign-off the cab as RFS (all being well that is) smile

Hi, A new cabinet (modern style) has appeared at the junction with Hulme Hall Road and Elesmere St. Could this be the solution to fibre woes?

Unfortunately no that isn't an FTTC cab. It's a United Utilities kiosk (which contains some kind of water outlet) I think it may have some purpose relating to the major sewer works going on at the moment. I saw a notification on roadworks.org about the installation of this thing, a few weeks ago.

It's only temporary as it's been plonked right in the middle of the old intersection of Hulme Hall Road that used to lead directly onto Chester Road (now a major works site.) This section of road will be re-opened around Dec 2014/Jan 2015 when the major works finish, so the kiosk will need to be removed.

PCP132 at Saint George's Island finally went live on 03/06 (week last Tues), after sitting there cold for 2 years. My FTTC install due tomorrow (11/06), predicted to get the full 80/20.

Hello there!

How are you getting CAB availability and dates? I have a client on this Exchange whose current ADSL2 is awful and they are in desperate need of fibre.

Any help appreciated, we actually have hundreds of businesses around the north west but have never found a way to get dates for individual CABs.

I've heard BT OpenReach have withdrawn plans to upgrade Cab 27 for Fibre Broadband (FTTC) in the remainder of their commercial roll out programme.... Can anyone confirm or give me an email address so i can contact BT ask myself?

Yes, that's correct!

Please send me a PM and I will be able to tell you more and give you a contact of a regional project manager at OpenReach.

On BT wholesale the following message appears:

FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- This cabinet is under review. We'll explore fibre broadband solutions & will update once done..

What does this mean? Any update on this cabinet?
