Hi,
For a number of reasons I have upgraded to a Draytek router and after a bit of hassle getting the VDSL connection to work correctly i'm up and running ... all good so far.
My problem is that because I had to reboot a lot and switch to and from the old HG612, i find my line speed and (most importantly) latency has dropped through the floor. I've gone from mid 60's with 18ms pings to 30 with 35 ms pings.
Is there really nothing that I or the ISP (plusnet) can do to get the profile improved ?

Any thoughts ? The download sync speed doesn't seem to bad considering the speed I'm seeing and those SNR values seem pretty good don't they ?

Wait the few weeks as line is stable and dlm to relent or see if plusnet can reset to day zero

Im in the same boat, I originally synced at 78/20, 11ms (Plusnet). After the first week of a stable connection, I got a new router (CISCO E4500) (which didnt play ball) and due to the numerous dropouts, my connection dropped to 65/15, 21ms. I replaced the cisco with my current TP-Link WDR3600.
Since then (2.5 months ago) it has lost about 1Mb a fortnight down to its current 61.2/15, 21ms. BTs original guesstimate was 56/18, so having 78/20 was a bit of a bonus. Now checking BT checker it says it is capable of 49/12Mb. Plusnet (after a bit of badgering) are looking into it.
So is this DLM working its magic or something else.

So the "Reset" just made it worse ?
ouch ....
Is there anyway to reboot a router without upsetting the DSM ?

Yeah the upload is virtually 1/2 of what i got when we first had it installed

If you have separate modem and router (as provided by default), resetting the router won't have any effect on DLM.
If you have a combined unit, it depends on the device if there is an option to reset the router part without resetting the modem part (VDSL connection).
If you redefine the pppoe login details and then define it back again, that would probably work on most combined modem/routers, at least if the purpose of the reset was to ensure the IP profile was properly established.

Moved (with trepidation turned relief) to BT Infinity 2 for upload speed. Happy BE user for several years.

All should bear in mind that Openreach have not yet approved any modem or modem/router for connection to FTTC circuits other than the modems they supply themselves, nor have they released an FTTC product allowing any such connection.
The specification of hardware/firmware requirements for approval for when connecting non-Openreach kit once they permit it can be found in BT SIN 498.

I am surprised noone else has noticed, but the line appears to have not been DLM'd what you pasted shows fast path with a low snrm so seems neither banding or interleave is in affect.
It simply looks to me the draytek is just syncing poorly on your line which isnt too surprising given it has bad reports with openreach dslams.
The bit I cant explain is your higher pings, its possible the modem is misreporting the fast path status.

Maybe the Draytek just isn't up to the required spec. There are a lot of very specific requirements and warnings about what isn't supported and what is.
That was the sort of thing I was meaning in my previous post - rather than warning about possible repercussions.

The xlsx files contained within the zip file are interesting.
What are they & where was the data obtained?
The QLN graphs seem to suggest that QLN is actually worse on shorter connections (unless that means we have been misinterpretting QLN graphs to date).
The theory to date has been that QLN at around -140 dBm was 'quieter' than say -120 dBm.

What do you mean by not DLM'd ? The line was definitely interleaved before and it became worse after the installation, i believe, due to the fact i had to switch between the HG612 and the 2860 multiple times.
My Broadband Ping the tbb Quality monitor shows the ping jump up many hours after the installation.
I'm told that the 2860 resolves the issues that Draytek were having with low speeds on VDSL .... if it doesn't then it's going back !

Put the Openreach modem back in and see if that helps.

agreed, the draytek modem is a fail on uk FTTC.
the hg612 needs to go back in, and just use the draytek as a router not a modem.
