Nelson ( LCNEL ) cabinets

Cabinets have started going in for the Nelson ( Lancs. ) exchange.

The Lancashire Council roadworks site is showing notice of works near me for cabs 25 and 40. ( I'm on 40 )

Noticed today that the base is now in for cab 25.

Just a quick update.

FTTC cabinet in place and my line now shows on the checker has having 69.4Mbps once activated. Date is still shown as 31-Dec-2013.

I do have one question though.

They have been working near the exchange and have put in a new chamber and a load of ducting. Some of that ducting came up in two new cabinet bases, which I thought may have been for doing something with EO lines.

However, there were only ducts going to these bases with no sign of power feeds and there are now two standard cabinets ( 77 & 78 ) on these bases.

Am I correct in thinking that these are actually fibre junction cabinets?

No. I'd guess they will divert some/all the E/O lines to the new PCP cabinets . The fibre DSLAM cabinets are yet to be installed.

It threw me that that they haven't put in the fibre cabs while the pavement was dug up.

Anyway. I checked the Openreach 'Where and when' page yesterday and the RFS date had changed in the PDF from Dec-13 to Nov-13.

Tried the BT Wholesale checker and Nelson is now live. Double checked this evening on various fibre providers websites.

Estimated speed here is approx 64Mb/s
