Possible FTTC - Exchange is Yes.. but checker is No...

Evening all,

Not posted for a while now.

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a small conundrum?

I am connected to the Cooden Exchange which is showing as FTTC being available from 01/09/13.

I checked the Superfast Openreach Site and it says Accepting Orders however as yet I cannot seem to get any of the "checkers" to work and can't seem to order it from anyone.

We are with TalkTalk and I am aware that the standard checker will NOT show up using the phone number.

I checked on the roadworks.org site, and the major road that runs from near the exchange towards us shows this:

Works Start: 27 Aug
End: 29 Aug

Location : Cooden Sea Road at junction with Birk Dale TN39 4GW

Is this potential good news? That road leads to what I believe is my "local" cabinet. I have previously posted about that cabinet on here as we are ALL fed via Telegraph Poles along the road I live on.

If someone can shed any light or offer and info I would be most grateful.

If you use the Address Checker option on http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome if you are connected to a cabinet it should tell you which one.

It advised Cabinet 7

Any other thoughts on this?

If cabinet 7 is only getting its ducting cleared on 27th/29th then yes probably good news. Is there a fibre twin next to where cabinet 7 is.

NOTE: An exchange going live just means some people can order a fttc service, not everyone.

My local exchange cuckoo oak fttc had live service available but I had to wait for my cabinet 8 to go live in late 2013 say BT Openreach. They are going to start work next month and October to bring a new FTTC next to my cabinet number 8. So, hopefully I can order FTTC in November just in time before xmas.

I have had a look today, no twin that I can see.. Here is an old Google Street Map pic of the box.

I am not sure how far the "twin" is usually placed from it's Telephone "brother"?

I can't seem to see anything near it..

I did see a BT Openreach Fibre van earlier, at the train station, which is very near to the box, but I didn't see anyone working.

I see the exchange in Cooden now shows that it is available in some areas. Is there any way to see what cabinets are live. I am on cabinet 8 and want to try to find out when I will be able to order it.

I can see from SamKnows that it's available in "some areas" as to where I have no idea.

I am on Cabinet 4 which is nearest to Cooden Beach station.

Have you found where your cabinet is? There would be an FTTC cabinet next to it, or close by. There is a useful link in the Oakham post with a picture of a smaller sized box. It could look like this or bigger..

I know BT Openreach were doing work on the junction of Birkdale and Cooden Sea Road recently. This appeared to be in connection with FTTC.
