Hi
I am on the Old Whittington exchange and we currently are not in any roll out plans for Fibre. However there appears to be new cabinets being installed everywhere. Should I be getting excited or is this just a regular cabinet replacement programme?
Thanks

If the cabinets are the style with vents for air flow then they are FTTC ones, so get a little bit excited.
The fibre can run to a neighbouring exchange, which can confuse sometimes. A fair few BDUK roll-out areas don't appear on the checker until a lot of stuff has been done, and some others appear at the planning stage.
Same company so can only assume its differences in the councils.

Looks like i was right to get a little bit excited, our exchange was on the announcement list yesterday
According to the BT Wholesale website I am connected to cabinet 16, which now has a nice new shiny cabinet installed across the road. Does the fact we have a new cabinet mean that our cabinet will definitely be installed with Fibre, or do we still have to play the waiting game and will see if it is on the list to be done?
Thanks

If new cabinet has air vent slots then its your fibre cab. Otherwise reshelling existing cabinets is generally good news

The new cabinet certainly has air vents, so hopefully not much longer to wait now.
Thanks

Don't get too excited. It could be 3, 6, 9 or 12 months before your service is LIVE and READY for ACCEPTING ORDER on bt checker.

It could also be 3 or 4 weeks if it's all powered up and ready to go.

... or not. The one I'm connected to was powered up in June 2012 but I couldn't order until December.

There were some that were worse. For most though it's weeks not months.

Not everyones getting it. Some are lucky, some are unlucky. Some are connected within 2-4 weeks, some are connected within 2-4 months, 4-6 months or even worse case 8-12 months. BT never rush into this or speed it up.
Mine from NGA Openreach forecast: Aug 2013 put back to Nov 2013 and now put back to Mar 2014.

Yes that's exactly what was said.
BT do what they can, they don't delay things intentionally.
I'm deeply moved that you have been put back to March 2014. I can't begin to imagine the pain and suffering you must be going through having top-10% ADSL and cable available to you. I'd call the United Nations.

I have checked everyday to see if i could place an order and yesterday it magically said i could. Fibre now being installed on Jan 10th. Its taken many years of waiting but it looks like my wait will soon be over

Mine is next one in Jan/Feb 2014 for FTTC ready service
Good luck with your FTTC.
