Hi,
My exchange is Woolston,Southampton. It has been fibre enabled for a couple of years now. Houses up and down the street near me can get FTTC but I can't.
I've checked on the BT wholesale site to see I'm connected to Cab 49.
Address FLAT XXX, 180 BURSLEDON RD, SOUTHAMPTON, SO19 8NB on Exchange WOOLSTON is served by Cabinet 49
VirginMedia is available to all homes near us too, but not to our flat. It seems we're in a proper 'not spot' of 3mb~ average ADSL where everyone around us can get proper broadband speeds.
My questions then are 1.) where physically is the cab,I've driven round and can't find it anywhere (this is more for my own geeky curiosity than anything else...) 2.) as NGA enquiries no longer works does anyone have an idea why cab 49 wasn't upgraded and if it will be done in the future?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I suggest you edit out your address at least as fare as the house number . These posts get onto google search results.
Sorry I can't help much with the actual question, too tired. It could be you are too far from the cabinet for VDSL2 to be any good. If you are, the FTTC estimates don't appear. You will only know if you find he cabinet, to see if it has a fibre mate.

Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

I'm on my phone at the moment, but have done a little investigating. If you enter just the postcode into the FULL ADDRESS checker you are given a list of addresses for that postcode.
Seems the flats are on cab 49, as are houses up to 210
If you select the house address (180) it is on cab 14, with full FTTC
Selecting other house addresses 212 and above are on cab 28 with FTTC
It would be worth using this method to check all the flats and surrounding houses.
It may be just your area happens to be covered by 3 cabs, but Something seems a little odd somewhere.
Edited to add further info above, also it seems odd that there is a house number 180, and flats listed for 180, is there a separate house or was it knocked down to make way for the block of flats? Seeing as these houses & flats are relatively new they may have been connected to different cabinets as there wasn't enough capacity in one.

Hi Digitalis,
I think I've found your cabinet. It's on the corner of Caerleon Drive and Brecon road.
I found it using this useful lookup site:
Codelookup
You can get a map of all the fiber cabinets for the exchange, and if you hover the mouse over the green dots it displays the cabinet number.

You sure that's Cab 49? It looks more like a VM one to me.

Fascinating site, thanks for sharing. But for the exchanges I've tried it with (local ones that I'm familiar with) it doesn't seem to be accurate for cabinet location.

Surely you can check the records yourself BTbert, as I highly suspect Ribble does?

|
no it wont be - i assume it based ont he post code / pcp match fiel with give centre of post code served by a cab -- it will not give hte cab location - that is not public

I would say the same as you, the ones I have looked out are not in the correct place. It also seems to suggest I am connected to two cabinets. Mind you SamKnows is similar as it says I can get fibre on my phone number which I know I cannot.

Sorry to bump this thread but we're no further on getting FTTC on cabinet 49 (woolston, southampton). I thought BDUK might help but there's no joy on
* Hampshire faster broadband website (http://www.hampshiresuperfastbroadband.com/ - area not covered by BDUK)
* Codelook (https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/ - shows fibre not available)
* Roadworks.org (no roadworks scheduled)
I've been checking the Openreach where-and-when site every other month which gives me "cabinet under review" so there is *some* hope of FTTC but would anyone on here have any other guestimates / clues as to if I'll ever get fast broadband in this area :-/
