connected to the exchange - any options?

Hi

my home is connected to an enabled exchange - Saddleworth. My home is within 15 yards of an old cabinet (not enabled I believe) and they have just wired in a new cabinet that is within 30 centimetres of my property wall - and about 5 meters from where my current telephone connection enters my home.

I've been in a rather circuitous email discussion with Openreach who have told me that it's "not policy" to switch someone to a cabinet even if that cabinet is very close to the property.

Im wondering if anyone has any experience of this situation and whether there is anything I can do it about it.
I'm envisaging that this might cost me - but Openreach wouldnt give me any direction as to how to approach getting myself connected- even if I'm willing to pay.

Yes, it can be done, but it's going to cost you plenty.

That's because Openreach only work for their customers, who are the various Service Providers, so the it's your chosen CP that you need to hassle.
