Haverfordwest Exchange Fibre Upgrade

[link to this post]

HI Guys,

Would anyone here any any news, gossip, rumours or plain speculation on when the Fibre upgrade in Haverfordwest (Pembrokeshire) might be complete and go live? smile

New street cabinets have gone up next to the existing ones (big green numbers) and the roads dug up, presumably to run the new cabling back to the exchange.

From past experiences how long does it typically take to get BTO to finish their works and get the Fibre service live from the cabinets being installed?

There was information published that Spring 2014 was the target date but the only official info out there is just 2014.

At this stage I am assuming that FTTC is all we will be receiving; similar speculation on the possibilities for FTTP would be welcome. What criteria are used for offering this to customers?

Kind Regards

Simon

I really hope FTTP is available, my line comes directly from the exchange.
I don't go through any green cabinets.
I know this because I asked an engineer. He didn't have an answer tho.

Ry.

Superfast cymru http://www.superfast-cymru.com/where-and-when (click on "coverage Map and video" then scroll down) now says that the exchange is enabled and accepting orders......I can't find any live cabs (cabs 15, 23, 25 or 30).

Anybody found any live cabs?

Ian

At that rate the "June 14" date for Pembroke looks more like Jan 15, once again the largest exchange in the county lags behind - along with the rest of the alleged priority area - the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone.

What is really worrying is that if the single 01437 exchange takes this long (April '14 was given as roll out according to the superfarce site) then given that that all of the three 01646 sites (Pembroke, Neyland and Milford Haven) are currently listed as being done at the same time... we could be waiting a while yet - Milford alone is about the same size as Haverfordwest, that's without the other 2 scheduled to be done at the same time.

I guess It would have been sooner had our AM been involved in this at Assembly level - like the Mumbles area, not a priority area and yet completed in the first wave of Funded roll out. Makes you wonder huh?

Hi Again,

Does anyone have fresh information on FTTC/P cabinet activations in Haverfordwest?

Super Fast Cymru are claiming that "more cabinets are now live" but the BT OpenReach service checker still shows Cabinet 13 in Merlins Bridge as still NOT live for FTTC/P

Which cabinets are now live and when will the others be available for service?

Regards

Simon

Hi Ian,

Thanks! smile No date for cabinet 13 but the speed uplift looks interesting!

Cabinet 5 was live on 13/05 and 28 on 21/05 so you can add those to the list.

Now if only we had a map of where all the cabinets are.

Kind Regards

Hi Ribble,

I hope so smile

Getting a wee bit frustrated with the seeming slow speeds that BTO are working at to enable the cabinets.

The last time I saw anyone working on Cabinet 13 was a few weeks ago so I was hoping it would go live sooner than this.

Regards

Hi,

BT Cabinet (PCP) 9 on Winch Lane seems to be live now.

Checked a line in the area which is connected to that Cabinet and the BTO ADSL checker reports FTTC options available for the cabinet smile

Kind Regards

Simon
