New line to different pole

I have been tasked with looking to get a better connection for a local primary school. Currently the line serving the school is connected to a cabinet that is not fibre enabled.

As the school premises are quite large and therefore there are several telephone poles surrounding the site. Different poles go to different cabinets.

Would we be able to specify BT Openreach to install to a telephone pole of our choosing (all distances are the same and there are no obstacles)? There is a pole that goes back to a cabinet which is fibre enabled.

No sadly not. Openreach won't move you to a different distribution point for that reason.

Does a "local primary school" not have a connection to the council run network or is this not that brand of school?

There might be an opportunity to conjure up a new address closest to the most appropriate telephone pole.
I've seen some schools list a comms room as a separate address within the BT system.
The other option is speaking to a next door neighbour who can get service via the better pole and doing some clever wireless/cabling after getting a new telephone line installed in their premises paid for by the school.

Yup, get a nice line supplier to key a new address instead of one already with NAD reference so it triggers a possible survey and isn't already routed to a set cab

It was called SWAN when first launched it which a fibre cable was ran from the cabinet into the school. This was then taken by BT over copper (make no sense). Then SWAN 2 launched with the contract awarded to VM just as I left working for the council.

Currently it does have a Council provided connection of 10mb which is poor and over priced. A lot of schools are now looking at alternatives as they are no longer forced to go with the rubbish that the council thinks is fit for the 21st century.

I was thinking of using the address that the pole is located at instead of the official school address. The supplier I'm working with is quite good so they will have no problem putting down whatever address I need them to.

The pole isn't located on the school grounds itself but is located on the street surrounding the school.

The distance from that pole to the building is about 20 metres. I guess I could ask the caretaker to setup a shed which could contain the line but I reckon just making an order from the poles address will do the job. Only issue i see if they do a google search and get the official school address.
