Fibre Broadband Advice

Hi,

Just wanted some advice. We can get fibre broadband in our area through the telephone line, but we are about a mile from the nearest street cabinet. Would it be worth having fibre broadband? Or would it be no faster than my normal broadband?

Does anyone know a good fibre supplier who do just broadband, and not calls, line rental packages etc?

If you are 1 mile from te cabinet then those figures are not correct. The figures are for a line length of around 500 to 600 metres and not 1600. You need to look again and see if there is another nearer cabinet.

If you was 1 mile from your cab you would not get speed estimates that high at all.

Your cab is much closer.

Can I just add a little note.
Chances are the line stats are wrong.
However, there is a chance the last major distribution point on this line is 500m or more from the lines final nte5 termination point.
I have seen on a number of occasions the dsl checker give common estimates for a batch of premises all connected to the same distribution point but with significantly long final drops to their nte5's.
Basically this is where the estimation software fails woefully.
On that note, I've had a brain fart and can't for the life of me remember what the BTWholesale internal line quality analysis platform is called, anyone know?

If you mean that you don't need to pay line rental to anyone, no ISP does. Only VM cable is available without phone, and I'm not sure that doesn't cost more than with.

If you mean an ISP that doesn't insist your line rental is with them, there are many. For instance, my broadband is Plusnet, my line rental is with BT (Retail).
