Home Hub 5 V's Billion 7600n (Or together?)

OK - We have bit the bullet and ordered Infinity 2 as it has finally arrived in Grimsby.

I am currently on LLU (7mb) via Vivaciti and using a trusted Billion 7600n which is giving us rather superb full house WiFi coverage.

Obviously with the HH5 on its way - do we just move onto that, Ethernet to the Billion instead, or have both running?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as ever folks

I'd say, try the Hub 5 for starters, it gets a bum rap from many on here, but TBF I don't see many problems with them on me travels, and the wireless seems good to me.

If all else fails, then go back to your Billion.

Am I of the thinking that the line into the house is the same as before - or different inputs?

To be honest, I was going to ask if the HH5 was any good, as we've just had our cabinet go live for FTTC and have ordered our upgrade. We spoke to one of the sales reps, who said that they were going to send out the Home Hub 5. I asked him if it mattered whether the cabinet was an ECI or not. He told me it doesn't matter nowadays, is this true?

I'd also like to get peoples opinions of what would be the best setup to do? Is it better to go with the HG612 VDSL modem and get another router? Or to stick with the HH5 (Although I hear that the Port Forwarding issue is still present on the HH5)

I'm currently using a HH3 atm on ADSL2+, but am not convinced by it as I seem to be getting a couple of random disconnect here and there. Before BT I was using Be's Speedtouch 780 router which was really good.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

It's the same line but as far as the broadband is concerned it only goes as far as the cabinet.

I have to agree Zarjaz I have been using the HH5 now for 6 months and can not fault it , I find it to be a very good all round performer.

What investigations/tests do you base this on? The number you've had to replace from your van or something more sophisticated? (Genuine Q)

I visit many properties looking at broadband issues, and I can honestly say I've only ever come across one faulty 5, and that was that the power supply was faulty straight out of the box.

With respect, that sounds to me like you're saying "none" (other than seeing if the hub is working in the most basic sense). Rather you base it on the fact that just one HH5 you had to swap from your van?

Right so I rather confused now.

Currently on LLU - Billion 7600n doing the honours.

So when Mr BT turns up and gets Infinity 2 all set up and running - will I need to use the HH5 or can I just use the 7600n on it's own as right now?

Or - does the HH5 have to be connected then you Ethernet the Billion to it?
