In the Subject you ask how to get the ping lower, and in the post you tell us it is 10-13ms lower than it was on ADSL2+.

???

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

I think the OP means "even lower".

I get a ping of 9ms on FTTC to the BBC normally, but with "interleaving high" enabled (due to a fault on the line), that shot up to between 35-45ms.
As soon as interleaving was removed, straight back down to 9ms.

I'd investigate why interleaving is enabled and if that can be sorted... not much else one can do elsewise.

From those stats i would say that the OP isn't currently interleaved, I agree that 32ms on fast path to the BBC is a little on the high side,Who is the ISP? as it could have something to do with them

Spot on Mr Saffron. Where i live in the Scottish Highlands it's pretty much impossible to get pings <30ms even on fastpath on ADSL2+. This has improved on fibre as i'm getting ~20ms but i know to get significantly lower ping times i'd have to live closer to London. I've come across someone with ping times of 4ms on fibre...I suspect they live next to Telehouse in Central London LOL

And a tracert in case there is some odd routing going on taking packets around the houses.

And that, And BT's somewhat questionable routing, So East scotland >>>> to BT's london data centre, then peered into BBC , would be the most direct way, I wonder if this isn't the case, It would explain why the latency is so high

It's in part the distance and network topology between end users and ISP's data centre, and POP's ect, Whilst the majority of the biggest ISP's all favour london, there are one of 2 that have data centres in other parts of the country as well,

I think someone on sky Llu in the Inverness / Forres area was getting lower pings. Those ISPs that use bt wholesale are generally 20cn still and pings are 50ms or higher. You can ping New York in 55ms on a good line, so it's not a good advert for bt wholesale in Scotland.

You should have a pretty good connection up there!

BT has Business support offices in Alness - for Business Broadband, including Infinity and also up in Thurso. So, you even speak te same dialect!

ive capped my sync speed with my zyxel modem using this line adsl configure --maxDataRate 09000 700 09700, the line errors are very low now smile im currently getting 41ms pings to the BBC , im in Chesterfield.

Capped Sync

Hoping it knocks interleaving off a bit.

The only time i got 14ms was when i had it first installed, the line was perfect for 12 days, then it added interleaving, to get 24ms , to say im 1200 metres from the cab and quite a bit of aluminium in there as well.

Since ive been trying the zyxel all in one , its added a lot more interleaving.

That appears to be on ADSL2+?

Not something that is supposed to be done on FTTC, and this is an FTTC thread in the Fibre forum tongue.

SIN 498, i.e. the Openreach DLM, may not behave as you expect/hope tongue.
Note : It is the DLM system that sets the line profile, and this should not be interfered with by CPs/users setting rates, SNR margins etc. at the modem.
I actually hope you are lucky and things turn out well, but ....
