Has my fibre cab magically moved?

Looking out of the window it still appears to be in the same place, yet i got an email from followthatpage.com this morning:

Changed:
- FTTC Range A (Clean) 80 79.5 20 19.9 -- Available
- FTTC Range B (Impacted) 80 70.2 20 17.9 -- Available
... into:
+ FTTC Range A (Clean) 80 69.3 20 19.9 -- Available
+ FTTC Range B (Impacted) 80 55.9 20 17.9 -- Available

Any idea why BT/OR have changed the speed estimate?

I thought 'impacted' estimate took into account crosstalk? Yes it looks like more people have took out fibre on my street as my max attainable has dropped from 86meg to 83 meg and i suspect the cab will get filled up quickly as there's no BT 21CN (ADSL2+) at my exchange so many folk are still stiuck on sub 8 meg speeds.

The impacted figure. I believe, is for lines with faults such as bridge taps, high resistance faults etc. and I would guess both will take crosstalk into account.

In a recent ASA ruling, BT were taken to task about their estimates.

As part of a statement, Openreach indicated "the speed estimate ranged from the 80th to 20th percentile for similar phone lines, therefore, 80% of end-users could achieve the quoted speeds."

The basic estimate has always included some allowance for crosstalk; the belief at the time an "impacted" estimate was introduced was that this was for semi-faulty lines, rather than crosstalk-impacted.

Elsewhere, I have seen that the speed estimates are identical for all lines fed from one DP (eg one pole). And elsewhere still, I've seen that estimates get updated when people actually get the service - which seems to be the case for my property.

Perhaps someone else on the DP took FTTC with a different result; perhaps this (or something else) caused BT to have a better idea of which "similar" lines made the best comparison for yours.

It got shy at being monitored by someone who already has the service.

Seriously it was based on feedback from installs.

I got the notification cos i forgot to delete the tracking URL on followthatpage after getting fibre installed recently.
