Cabinet near full

[link to this post]

Today I saw BT Engineer open the cabinet (this cabinet is the one I am connecting to for fibre) as I asked him nicely this morning "Is this cabinet full yet?" and engineer say to me this cabinet is now on 280 users, 8 users left to fill up. I couldn't believe that my cabinet nearly full up since February went live. Sound like lots of unhappy virgin media customers in my area with badly congestion.

And he say there more likely an addition another cabinet soon. Does it mean BT will bring another huawei 288 cabinet next to my cabinet?

When the cabinet is full if you have FTTC on the number/address your checking it still says available, it will only say unavailable if you check an address/number that doesn't have FTTC.

I've seen this on a local cabinet NDBRO 10, I actually know three people on this cabinet, two have FTTC. Both said available, the third and other addresses said it was unavailable and more capacity was required. There is a post on here about.

Edit. See this post onwards

You were either given wildly inaccurate information or misunderstood. Cab 8 is no where close to being full

I didn't say it was full. It's almost full say engineer. I know it will be nearly full as my fibre attainable rate is dropped from 113136Kbps to 89671Kbps now.

Yeah I remember that bit, though I think the chap was monitoring it on both phone number and address.

Regardless I'll retract the post, you have a point and the 4 for 5 quid ale from Asda may have been talking for me.

Thanks RONSKI.

Bleh, drawn a blank.

Ribble, if you wouldn't mind please is MYHLT 82 close to full?

Some more properties just been bulit and will be getting residents imminently so if it's really close current residents will need to order sooner rather than later.

Thanks Sir.

Ribble,

any chance of checking how full Kennford cab 2 is please?, my sync has gone from 52meg down to 30 and I'm hoping it's because a lot of people have joined, I have a feeling though that not many people have signed up as there has been no advertising etc around here that it's available, so have a feeling I can expect it to keep going down when more people join,

thanks

Thanks for checking Ribble, I was the very first one to be connected to the cabinet so knew I would be effected by cross talk a lot and was worried I'd lost a lot of speed and not many people had joined.
Thankfully this is not the case

Thanks again for checking.

The one card gives 64 ports, so what he said was accurate. Until it gets the second line card it's a 64 port bit of kit.

Ribble what happen to the last cabinet? As Cuckoo Oak Cabinet 6,8,9 all done. But Cabinet 7 not done? ( I can see very few houses nearby cabinet 7 probably the reason that BT will not put fibre there)

Not really relevant to most people when they want to check if they can get broadband or not though, is it?

Given how they must be coining it in on 8 and 9 with that level of take up I'm surprised they haven't enabled 7.
