Infinity & Sky fibre available but not TalkTalk fibre

[link to this post]

TalkTalk have told me that they aren't currently offering fibre in my area despite the fact that I have had Infinity (Infinity2 now) for a couple of years and also IDnet fibre on a second line. Sky fibre appears to be available and TalkTalk ADSL LLU is available here to.

What is the reason TT fibre might be unavailable?

They may not have paid for the fibre link cable in the exchange yet

Which exchange?

As Andrew says it may be that they have not got a GEA link cable in the exchange yet. Also there might be more than one GEA handover node in the exchange so could be that your cabinet is connected to a GEA node that only has a few cabinets connected. Therefore TT have chosen not to connect due to lack of potential customers.

In my area TT didn't t start offering fibre until 8 months after Sky and BT were which I thought a bit odd because they had quite a high number of ADSL customers in the town.

Could easily take 6 months to improve their backhaul to support the new high speeds of fibre.

James - plusnet unlimited fibre - 2 Jun 14 - 470m - Sync 55/9.4 (BT was 51/9.8)
15 years broadband (1999 ntl:cable trial) - Asus RT-AC68U with HG612 - PN BQM - PN speed - old BT speed
