Hello,
There seems to be people in the know on here with regards to Openreach FTTC roll outs. Just wondering if anyone knows what the hold up is with the Hoyland roll out? The live date on the wholesale checker has moved from 31-Mar to 31-Jun to 31-Sep.
Cabs have been in for about a year and as far as I'm aware none of the cabinets on the exchange have been enabled.
Cheers,
Lee

Can't say what the hold up is but I am over in Bolton on Dearne, near you. We run off the Goldthorpe exchange. The ECI Fibre cabinet was installed before we moved in to our house and we moved in October 2012. Fibre wasn't enabled until April this year. This was after the availability estimate we changed from July 13 to October 13 then Feb 14 then March 14 before eventually just getting enabled in April out of the blue. The enabling coincided with Barnsly council digging the pavement up to install new street light right where the cab was. So Openreach did some work while the street lights were being installed. (maybe it costs them less)
Anyway, while none of that is relevent to your situation, Cabs can be installed years before eventual turn on. A cab nearer to the center of Goldthorpe which has had a cab the same length of time is still waiting with an estimation of September 2014.
It's just sit and pray
EDIT: Probably going to take longer around here as there was no rush with the Digital Region SLU project already here.

I'm hoping that they were maybe waiting for the Digital Region network to close (next month). Not going to be happy if the activation date slips again

Anybody know if this is on target for completion this month? Checker still states 30-Sept so I'm trying to stay positive

OK this is getting ridiculous, just checked the wholesale checker again....
"Exchange HOYLAND is served by Cabinet 15 - 30-Jun-15"
What's going on!?

One last bump in case any of the "in the know" people on here can check anything?

I susspect there sections of duct in the main spine route that are congested with redundant cable that need to be removed are are waiting to be offloaded.

It's getting silly, you'd think BT would give some kind of indication to what the delay is.
|
|
|
|
I'm totally frustrated by this too. Considering that when we moved back to ADSL, following being told of the Digital Region closure, it looked like it would be only have to endure it for a couple of months.
How wrong I was. You'd have thought it would have made good business sense for Openreach to have fibre available upon DR closure.

Are you both on the Hoyland exchange or just in the surrounding areas?

Yeah, I'm pretty close to the exchange, looking more for better upload speeds than anything as 16mb down isn't bad.
I just want to be able to download stuff from my NAS drive quickly wherever I am.

Anyone heard anything about the progress on this? Or spotted any Openreach works?
Lee

Last I heard from Openreach back in February was that the project manager was expecting a completion date of 'end of March' however still no update on the DSL checker for my cabinet.

I'm hoping they've done the fibre to the cabinet and they're just waiting for the exchange, otherwise I can't see this being delivered on time, delays again!

Hi,
I've just come across this - after hunting about for an install date as well for the Hoyland Area.
I kicked up a fuss with BT Openreach. (I emailed their CEO and kept at it) Until they pulled their finger out and set the 30 June 2015 date. They even got their 3rd party provider to phone me twice, and say sorry. lol I got them a little worried about false advertising.
The last excuse they gave was because of major road works, causing the delay. That was from someone quiet high up in BTO.
One could always get on to the local council about it, since it's voting time, and this is all suppose to be to improve Hoyland, (BTO + councils etc are the ones pushing all of this under the government) After all, none of our council tax goes towards improving Hoyland, it all goes to Barnsley (After the little that goes towards emergency services)
We were promised it for the end of FEB 2014 at first, then delay after delay. The local exchange is suppose to be behind where the old Tesco Express store was. I've a feeling it's not.
I'm glad to see, I'm not the only one fed up with BTO breaking their promises!
I use http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ to keep tabs.
I have to say, I thought I was the only nerd in the area! LOL

I think your exchange is here Google Maps I am almost sure its there going by the antenna mast there.
Yep it is, here is another view of the place, you can see a couple of BTOR Vans.

So from the response you got are you confident we will be getting fibre in June?im on cab 15 so really hoping so
|
|
|
|
Like so many others, I'll believe it when I see it. Though, it does seem I rattled a few cages. After all, BTO don't normally deal with the members of the public directly.
BTO have said since July 2013 that Hoyland was on their roll out plan.
A quote from an email I received, "I have been in contact with the senior project manager for this deployment and we are now expecting work to resume in Spring next year with completion, (subject to finding no engineering difficulties) expected around late June."
So you now know as much as I do.
Cheers

Fingers crossed then,my old address I was getting 80/20 and seriously missing it,still getting 20 down here but it's just not cutting it for me,want the upload more than anything

Cheers mate I've checked open reach website and it appears i can't order, says exploring soliutions basically saying I'm too far from the cabinet when I can walk to it in under a minute, absolute joke

What's your postcode?
Its not how far you are from the cabinet its how long the cables are to the cabinet, they may take a longer route to the cabinet.
Paul

Just to make sure you have the right cab this is PCP 15

Just to make sure you have the right cab this is PCP 15 That's the same one of two cabinets that I found last night took about 20 comparing fibre speeds which lead me to that location, just wanted to get their postcode to check if they also had the correct cabinet.

Yes that's my cabinet.when I check on the DSL checker website it says I'm connected to cabinet 23 but when I first moved in last year the guy at open reach had troubles figuring out where I was connected,he went to 23 but said it was wrong as I was connected to 15 instead.my postcode is s749pg
|
|
|
Well, I played the normal game with Sky, telling them I'm thinking of leaving.
But some how they talked me into staying, by offering the Fibre Pro for the lower Fibre price for 12 months, and no activation costs.
I should be up and running in less than 10 days - just got to wait for the little black box. I realise Sky's router/modem isn't the best, but I can always stick on a better router, that I'll have full control over.
Good luck to everyone else, and stay off my connection! LOL

Here is cabinet 23 I think:
https://goo.gl/maps/6jXDe
That cabinet would be a lot closer.
Being on a different cabinet that it says you are connected to on the DSL Checker will always cause you issues until you get it resolved.

Can openreach do that,I'm not too clued up with all this, how would I even go about getting the question to them?would be a load better if I could get on cab 23 as it is closer that 15

With some info.
Also BTOR don't really deal with the public but only ISP's, not know who your ISP are, but you will need to ask them to contact BT Openreach to check your line and if not connected to the cabinet that its suppose to be connected to then possibly resolve the issue moving to the correct cabinet or update the database.
The road for that postcode is rather short so it shouldn't be that difficult for BTRO to move you to the correct cabinet.

Well, I ordered Fibre Pro from Sky back on the 18th. I was informed that even if it was normal Fibre, an Engineer has to go out to the cabinet and update it, since it's the first time it's ever been done. Unless for some strange reason there wasn't a modern BT socket in my house, then an Engineer doesn't have to come to the house.
So, that's why there is still a delay from ordering to actually having it running the same day.
This is why they give a 10-14 day activation day between the order and the swap.
I was also told, on the day of the switch, it can take between 2-4 hours for the switch to happen, which will leave me no internet access for that period of time.
From what I understand though, is that Sky's SR102, is the only box of tricks that can sort out the fibre without an engineer going to the customer's home as well. (At least that's what I've been reading from reviews of the SR102.)

I have this exact same problem. I'm in the new builds just off Greenside Lane (Milton Croft), and they were originally planning on putting the new lines into PCP 23, but due to duct blockages they put them to PCP 15.

That's strange. I've got an email confirming the 29th.

They'll happily upgrade you to Fibre for free. It just locks you into a new 12 month contract with them. I still had a few months left on my 12 month contract with SKY. At least give them a call, and see what they say.
I'm getting really nice speeds.

Just found this and wondered if anyone can help. I'm on Hoyland exchange too and through this site and Code Look I found my cabinet number is 26. Again on this site I found that cabinet 26 went live on 8th May 2015. However when I contacted Plusnet they said fibre was not available to me yet. When/how can I determine reliably that fibre is available at my address (S74 8DP)? Thanks in advance.

Exchange Name: Hoyland
Exchange Code: SLHY
Cabinet: 26
Fibre Phase: 11b 2013-2014
Fibre Information: FTTC Available from 8th May 2015
Result Count: 44
[S74 8DP]
Has 44 result(s) connected to Cabinet 26 with FTTC with approximate speeds around the following:
 Range A: 13.1 -> 21.6 (downstream) 0.8 -> 3.1 (upstream)
 Range B: 6.4 -> 18.0 (downstream) 0.6 -> 2.4 (upstream)
Please note that these speeds are using BT's DSL Checker and uses the lowest and highest values for that postcode and cabinet.
Had at least 1 issue retrieving information from the BT DSL Checker. Maybe PlusNet is slow getting the update?

Perhaps those other users aren't using Sky as their ISP. Until Sky purchase the necessary GEA-FTTC link from BT to connect their equipment to BT's you won't be able to order. The same for Talk Talk and their resellers.
|
|
|
|
As MCM0 has already noted, assuming you're still on Sky (which is what's in your profile), the most likely explanation is that Sky have yet to get their network to the handover node for the FTTC from your cabinet and odder the necessary GEA Cablelink from Openreach to connect to the FTTC system.
The other possible explanation is that your too far from the cabinet for Openreach to believe FTTC would be stable.
The way to tell the difference is to do an availability check for your address on an ISP that uses BT Wholesale (BT Retail's Infinity, Plusnet, Zen and many more). If you can order FTTC from those ISPs, the issue is the lack of Sky backhaul and the necessary Cablelink.

OK I've just been playing around with the Sky website, apparently the houses less than 50m from mine, that are served by the same cabinet, can have Fibre, but mine cannot. I think there's an error the Sky system that somehow doesn't match my house to a cabinet...? Anyone got a technical contact at Sky who knows more than how to read a script?

Good luck - though remember that Sky are free to choose who they offer service to. It may well be a case of gentle persuasion to check the true availability situation and correct any database error.
