Cab availability date moved again

[link to this post]

I'm annoyed that our cabinet availability date has moved yet again. It was originally July last year, then Sept, then Dec, then March 14, then July 14 and now Dec 14! What makes it worse is that there has been a fibre cab 100 yards down the road for a year now.

The BT wholesale site just says "FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- Sorry it's taking us longer than planned to get your cabinet ready for service." Is there any way to find out the reason for the delay, and perhaps when it might be sorted out? I hope the delay won't be perpetual!

If you let us know your exchange and cabinet number I'm sure someone on here can check for you, I've got a friend who lives close to me and his date keeps on getting put back due to blocked ducts (July last year I think was his go live date and its currently set for Sept, roadworks.org still shows BT trying to clear blocked ducts around the area so clearly it's still an issue for him.

Hi Rich,

I have checked your area for roadworks and there seems to be some duct clearing before the deployment date of FTTC on cab 33. So hopefully, after they have done the clearing, they should deploy FTTC in your area

cheers

Interesting, thanks for checking! Could you see if they've scheduled the roadworks?

That's a useful site but unfortunately doesn't show any works near the cab or on adjacent roads for over the next year. I also checked the county council roadworks schedule which doesn't list any works either so I'm curious to know if FredTheB could see anything about dates.

Have you tried emailing your council becuase to be honest they qould know much more than i do but since most exchanges in the UK are being upgraded in december, there will be a chance that your exchange and cab will be upgraded this december.

Care to qualify 'most exchanges in the UK are being upgraded in december'?

No, but that was one of my reasons for posting here as if there are useful channels to go through I'll happily try those. I don't know who in the council is best to contact.

My exchange has been done for ages, and so has the cab 100 yards down the road (over a year ago) which is part of my frustration.

I live with 4 cabs in my area. 2 of which have been upgraded a few weeks ago. I have contacted my council about the cab which serves mine and they gave me a detailed time of when my cab would be upgraded.
