It depends what and where the cause of the crackle is.
I had severe crackling my line which would have destroyed my ADSL service due to BT Wholesale DLM if I hadn't been on O2 LLU which didn't mind the many disconnections I got (and could tolerate).
I was almost sure (for a variety of reasons) the problem was between the cabinet and exchange. A move to FTTC cured that as the noise is filtered out at the cabinet.
If the cause had been between the cabinet and my house it would have been worse on FTTC.
Two questions. Is that Sky LLU or Sky Connect, and do you have a Sky (TV) box?
