I am on a market 1 exchange with no LLU, should have FTTC next spring. Just curious what ISP's I would be able to get once it is available, like how about Sky or Talk Talk ?

Neither I'm afraid , unless they LLU it by then.
All other ISPs that offer BT Wholesale based FTTC. It's fine! Just not quite as cheap as the bottom end Sky and TT offerings. Their top end ones aren't cheap.

Don't assume the FTTC goes to your exchange. Its quite possible that Openreach will run the fibres to another nearby exchange - so you would have to ask Sky and Talk Talk directly once your phone number shows fibre available on the BT wholesale checker. (link on the front page of this site).

AIUI Sky do not provide FTTC at exchanges they have not LLU'ed even if the fibre headend is LLU'ed, because the customer would not be able to have LLU phone. I'm fairly sure the same applies to TalkTalk.

Ok, thanks.
That's a shame. Not sure if I would go with them but it's always good to have the choice.

Dragging up an old thread since a relative is getting FTTC soon on a Market 1 exchange.
On a different Market 1 exchange to theirs, TalkTalk refused to offer any products for sale, fibre or ADSL. Interestingly however, although Sky refused to offer ADSL, it was happy to offer fibre. Even better, the price is the same as on their LLU exchanges, including the new £10 fibre product.
So it does look like Sky is offering fibre on Market 1 exchanges.

It is not that exchange is market 1, it depends on where the fibre handover is and willingness of an ISP to use WLR for voice.
Or it was the case that Sky LLU was available but TalkTalk not, which can happen.

Well the second point comes as a result of the exchange being Market 1, i.e. Sky not having their own equipment in the exchange.
Or it was the case that Sky LLU was available but TalkTalk not, which can happen.
I can't imagine that Sky withdrew ADSL for sale if the exchange has Sky LLU. If Sky has started to replace ADSL availability with fibre, that would be an interesting news story in itself.

Did not say Sky have withdrawn ADSL. Market 1 definitions are so out of date they can be wrong for many exchanges.

Then in that case the Sky availability checker should have offered both FTTC and ADSL, and not just FTTC.

Scenario maybe
1. Exchange phone goes to does not have sky LLU
2. Exchange fibre goes to does have sky LLU
3. Sky may be happy to supply voice over WLR and GEA-FTTC via their LLU backhaul at the other exchange.
This is why relying on Market 1 or even the newer Market A/B definitions should not be done.
Of course until the FTTC service goes live, we don't know whether its just the Sky checker is broken.

Yup, I appreciate that, I was using Samknows to see which exchanges have Sky LLU, since that's the best public data we have on it. Then I plugged two different phone numbers from two different exchanges which apparently have no Sky LLU into the Sky checker, and both times FTTC was offered and ADSL wasn't.
It's interesting information to FTTC shoppers who know that their exchange doesn't carry Sky LLU; they definitely should check their line with Sky since it appears some good deals are available, despite their lack of LLU presence.

This must be a (customer-friendly) policy change . A while back Sky would not supply FTTC if they didn't have the ability to offer LLU phone at the customer's exchange.

I am not so sure its a policy change and not a side effect of a bug, since they still in theory list Sky Connect as an option for people, we stopped listing it as no-one really seemed interested in it.
The line I looked at did not have FTTC available and the Sky checker seemed to offer FTTC hence believe it may be a bug.

Yup, the more choice the better. And of course now that Sky offer the UK's cheapest fibre offer at £10 a month it's even more interesting, especially with all the new BDUK provisions on smaller (potentially non LLU) exchanges.

It would appear from what I have seen that Sky will not offer Sky Connect where FTTC is available (a good choice in my opinion). Sky Connect is still offered where there is no FTTC presence.

That doesn't tally with this latest post. What does samknows show for their exchange, in respect of LLU. Did it have O2/Be?

That is interesting, I will have to check Sky/Talk Talk when Fibre goes live here incase they have run it from a different exchange with LLU.
Getting excited now, saw BT laying Fibre today on the road towards our exchange. Hopefully after that they will continue to our village

My relative is in a Market 1 exchange with no LLU and no fibre.
In order to see the state of play with Sky on fibre exchanges where Sky have no LLU presence I took two random telephone numbers & postcode combinations from company websites on the internet who are in an area with fibre but no Sky LLU, and put them in the Sky DSL checker.
(Yes I know this is a but naughty of me, but I couldn't see any other way of obtaining this information prior to my relative's exchange going live with fibre).
