Could a second line give me a better FTTC speed

Really poor FTTC speeds (around 12-13) even though only approx 700m from Cab. Checker originally said 32, now says 23 -32.

Thinking about getting a second line to see if it improves the speed. If I do get a second one will it mean a second cable from the DP or do they use the existing cable and run two lines on it ? - if so am I likely to achieve anything better than at present ?

Any other thoughts welcome

It's unlikely to perform any differently. it'll probably just use another pair from the same cable bundle as your current line.

Can you not report it as a fault as you are getting a lot lower then the predicted speed?

I would agree with this. Even if no fault found and you have to end up paying for the visit, it's still got to be cheaper than paying for 2 services.

Been there - six Engineer visits later Plusnet's best response is to say that's it and you can leave if you want !!

And they haven't billed you for any of these visits?!

Have you checked for virginmedia in your area?

Existing cable has 2 pairs in it and it won't help you in the slightest.

Not necessarily- order two new lines.

OP is asking specifically about a second line, going by the thread topic. A leased line or FTTPoD would improve things too. Neither are relevant.
