The engineer came yesterday to do the conversion to Fibre broadband, that's the good news. The Bad news is that PlusNet hadn't sent the new router out to coincide which means we have no broadband available to the household except for one PC. This PC is connected to the BT Openreach modem via Ethernet cable and a PPPoE connection being made to connect to the Internet.
My question is. Could I use the Netgear DG834 router to make a connection to the Fiber broadband? This router does support PPPoE connections but I am not sure if it should connect to the BT Openreach modem or straight into the faceplate. I have tried the latter because the cable works but there is no way of connecting the BT Openreach modem to the DG834 router unless an RJ11-RJ45 cable would do the trick.
Any thoughts? Waiting for the modem to eventually arrive is not a comfortable option. We pay the premium for a business contract with PlusNet and now feel we have been sorely let down and our business is suffering.
