Openreach Modem

Does the HG612 Openreach Modem can work standalone with setting on VDSL without any router? The reason is I don't use wifi. Only Lan port so surely openreach modem unlocked should work stand alone straight to pc lan port to surf the internet.

I don't think he wants it as a router. Just as it is - a modem with Ethernet output.

So in that case, he already has what he wants

It won't work. I check connection and say Your machine administrator has disabled Teredo ??? can't get my head round it.

If you just want a single computer connected there are two ways.

One is using the setup as in the post above; with the HG612 making the PPPoE connection. I am afraid I'm not quite sure why that setup isn't working for you.

Alternatively, use the HG612 in its original configuration (locked or unlocked) as a pure modem, and make the PPPoE connection from the computer connected to the HG612.
On Windows that means that you must go into Network Settings and create a new network. Configure it for PPPoE, with a username of '[email protected]' (actually there are lots of others that will work), and any password you like.

After trying everything I give up. Have to use router connected to HG612 modem. Cannot get it working. Maybe someone will help me step by step and computer set up in windows 7 of how to get connecting to modem only via ethernet to pc and surf the net. I hate to use two items (router and modem).

I think you need your pc to pppoe auth this will work by connecting the lan1 cable from hg612 to pc and no need to reconfigure anything on the hg612.
or have the hg612 do the pppoe and it then acts as router you will need to reconfigure it and can probably use either lan port to pc.

what you cant do is connect hg612 direct to pc and expect it to just work, you need something to handle the ppp and routing.
