I think it should work. Make sure you have the latest firmware, and manually set the VLAN ID to 101 (I think).

Bit more info; to set the VLAN ID:

Click the "Internet" menu on the left, which expands, then click "Account Information".

On the right, scroll down and click "Change Connection Settings" to expand this section.

Tick "Use VLAN for internet access", and enter 101 as the VLAN.

Click apply, whilst keeping your fingers and toes crossed.

If it works, mine's a pint smile

There should be a 'Y-Cable' to plug directly to the FritzBox. The other 2 ends to the faceplate or splitter.

There used to be a bug (IIRC) in FritzOS where you had to enter values for VCI/VPI even though these are not used for VDSL.

So no need for the Openreach white modem?

Just plug the RJ11 (or RJ45) cable from the faceplate directly into the Fritzbox's VDSL port. It contains a VDSL modem, and doesn't need the Openreach modem in the middle.

Alternatively, if for some reason you want to us the Openreach modem, plug the cable out from that into the WAN port on the Fritzbox.

I have the 3390, so I guess it's very similar.

Well it works a treat. Thats if i plug it in directly to the phone socket.

How do you get these to work in conjunction with the Openreach modem. Or do they not mind if you remove their demarcation point?

The demarc is the master socket. The Openreach modem is just the freebie supplied. BT HomeHub's (the newer ones) don't require the Openreach modem I believe.

Personally I'd keep it as a backup. The FritxBox already supports vectoring, which is the only major change that is long awaited from BT. The only benefit to the Openreach modem is that BT can update it remotely with new features (to the extent that its hardware allows).

Cheers,
AP
