FTTC Cab in, waiting for checker to update

[link to this post]

Hi,

My FTTC cab was installed about 3 weeks back, I've been checking the btw adsl checker every other day impatiently waiting for it to show FTTC. I assume there's no way for my CP to push Openreach for a date when it'll be ready - and it's just case of waiting for it to change? (The exchange has been FTTC enabled for over a year, it's just my cab I'm waiting for)

Thanks

The cabinet being stood is just part of the process. Until the tie cable to the PCP is installed, the fibre connected and power connection made, the cabinet can't be tested and marked ready for service.

These processes can take anywhere from a few days to over a year. In a handful of rare cases, something goes wrong with one of these steps, such as no way being found to bring power to the cabinet economically, so the cabinet is removed again.

That's what I understood, it could be anywhere between 2 weeks to over a year. That's why I'm wondering if my CP can push Openreach for an ETA of when it should be live.

Have you tried asking BDUK Wales? http://www.superfast-cymru.com/home

SF-Cymru don't have info once the work is under way I'm as far as I'm aware. I know I'm being impatient, I was just wondering if there's a way I can get a rough date so I don't have to keep checking daily tongue

If you are anything like most of us, you will still check daily even if given a date smile.

Anyway, tongue smile, wasn't it every other day earlier?

I'm in the same position as the OP. Cab stood about 2 weeks ago now. Trying to resist the urge to check the checker. But i'm 1500m from the cab and since the work on the cab i've lost 2mbit on my line sync, even though that could be overhanging trees frown

Same here on the Tenby exchange! My cab's been in about 3 weeks now, fibre cab and pcp connected and I believe power too but nothing on checker yet. Superfast Cymru says by December 31st but I believe that's just generic as most cabs I know of in the towns that have been enabled around here have gone live 'early' so here's hoping wink

Knowing my luck lately though, I'll have a blocked duct that'll take months to clear frown
