New cabinet live ftts but can only order up to 40mbit ?

So finally my cabinet went live in Longtown cum bria but despite living close to the cabinet bt adsl checker is saying i can only order upto 40mbit connect not the 80mbit i actually wanted ??? Anyone know why this is and if they will increase the speed to the cabinet later or if this is me stuck in a middle lane for good now ?

How far away from the cabinet are you, following the streets (or ideally the cable), in meters?

Bearing in mind that the cables can sometimes loop up and down streets in unexpected ways, which adds distance to the line.

What does the BT checker at: http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome say for your number?

The cabinets are enabled supporting both 40 and 80 Meg products,

What the providers offer you is often filtered based on the speeds they believe a property can receive.

it doesnt show an option for 80meg no matter what isp i check.

When i use the bt adsl checker it says 38.3 fttc range high and 30 low clean and 32.2 fttc range impacted and 17 low impacter.

My exchange is this LCLOG and it's a sm,all exchange with njo 21cn. I was told as it was an old exchange by plusnet that thats why they only offer 40/10

Nothing to do with the age of the exchange.

I think you'll find Plusnet is 40/20, not 40/10.

You are obviously a long way from your cabinet, or else there is a database error. (There are quite a few). What does the address option on the BT Wholesale checker your were given earlier say, and have you got a neighbour's phone number you could check for as well?

Also, does that checker give the same cabinet number for your phone number, your neighbour's, and your address?

Exchange distance is completely irrelevant. What about the address option for your house. (Not the pure postcode one - that's almost useless).

i've uysed that one and it says the same. They installed the green box closer to my house by around 100ft from the exchange. Seems though thats all ill be getting speed wise.

Where's the original green box (PCP)? The new green box (FTTC cab) should be quite close to it. Sounds like that's around 560 meters or so away from you?
