Hi
just had our only Cabinet go live at the weekend on Gargunnock Exchange. Rest of village is EO and will be served by a new PCP (2) . Planning approval for the DSLAM has been given, so far nothing for the PCP. Anyone got any ideas how long it might be till we can get the new Cabinets in or is it still too early to tell?

Not before Christmas.
It really is how long is the string and how busy the people who do the EO switchover are. The EO is done with no interruption to the live phone service, rather than just break the big cable bundle and thus needs the teams used to doing this.

Makes sense about the teams, as we have 5 exchanges in close proximity that are all EO. Hoping ours will be 1st as we have a cabinet live... I can live in hope, we were promised Summer 2014

actually the village would go for the big cable break if it meant getting done faster.
We are stuck on ADSL Max and desperate for this. We already know that there will not be enough ports on the FTTC cab to cover the subscribers!

Most might, but heaven forbid someone needs a phone in an emergency. The rules on emergency number support mean that the break if done, as a planned thing would require BT to roll-out emergency cover to the area for those lines.
Mobile can probably cover, but legally the USO is on BT and the openreach lines.

True,
so they will move all EO lines onto the new PCP irrespective of whether a FTTC order is placed?
We have 400+ EO lines and Huawei 96 going in that's going to be full hours from when its made available..
Do you know how joined up are Openreach re EO PCP and FTTC installs. As I said Planning granted for the FTTC but nothing in for the PCP, and its a Conservation area so really should get planning, unless BT forget that bit

I've certainly seen cases where, when there is going to be a known outage of the phone in a village location, the emergency services park some vehicles out there.
Just so they can reduce response times to offset the likely extended communication delay.
