Hello,
We are looking to move into an area of Flintshire soon and unfortunately the half of the village we're moving to is on the Holywell Exchange (Cabinet 10) and is not FTTC enabled (the cabinet). The other half is on the Flint exchange and just 0.3miles away can get FTTC!
At this present time I'm just looking to find out where Cabinet 10 is located near CH6 6HN so I can estimate that if/when FTTC is available on that cabinet what (if any) speeds I will see?
Does anyone know, or is anyone able to find, Cabinet 10 serving CH6 6HN in Bagillt, Flintshire?
Thank you in advance,
Luke

Cab 10 is due to get FTTP.

Cab 10 is due to get FTTP.
Really?
Everyone I have spoken to (BT, A&A, Superfast Cymru) all tell me it's not in the plans - do you have information otherwise?
Thanks!

Guess so
Where are you seeing this information? We're close to committing to a house purchase and this is one of the final decision makers.
Any further information you can provide would be really appreciated.

Mmmmm, kind of tricky. Can you accept it in good faith?

Are you able to PM me, or perhaps contact me outside of here to at least help? It's a significant purchase and I'm not looking for firm dates - but to at least know that it's going to happen would be incredibly useful.
Even basic information such as the year? 2015? 2016?

2015 is possible, but FTTP can end up being a long , protracted delivery process so wouldn't want to commit any certainty to that comment

Are you able to reveal where you are getting this information?
I'm not looking for commitment, but some sort of authenticity would at the very least put my mind at ease - SuperFast Cyrmu have told me FTTP but 'no timescale' and BT have said no plans for FTTC/P.
Can you give me something, anything, to go on, please?

Can you give me something, anything, to go on, please? Ribble has given you as much as he can and confirms what SuperFactCymru have already told you. Ribble could quite possibly tell you more but then he would have to kill you so you instead you will have to accept what he's said.

Thanks - but why have BT categorically said they have 0 plans to provide FTTC or FTTP in the area specified?
While seemingly a game to some people - we're trying to base a house purchase on potential internet speed in the future. So, as much information as I can get would obviously be hugely beneficial, especially when others are seemingly privy to details that I am not.

Doing a postcode lookup here it says :-
Fibre Street Cabinet 1: P10 FTTP Planned Phase BDUK Wales 11a

Thanks - but why have BT categorically said they have 0 plans to provide FTTC or FTTP in the area specified? Because you are speaking to BT Retail, who rely on the standard BT Wholesale checker.
That checker doesn't normally have any details of FTTx forecasts for BDUK/Council "Superfasts" until just before or perhaps not until the "cabinet area" goes live.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 57.1/14.8Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4 BQM IPv6 BQM

If you're risking a lot of money on a house purchase with fibre being a must-have, I suggest you would be better off buying one that can already get fibre from Virgin or Openreach.

Thanks - but why have BT categorically said they have 0 plans to provide FTTC or FTTP in the area specified? Because you haven't spoken to someone who has the slightest idea as to what either BT Openreach or SuperFastCymru are planning but rather in most likelihood a sales bod at BT Retail who only has access to what is available today or in the next few weeks.

The people I spoke to were referred by A&A ISP and the one gentleman was listed as Head of fibre products and forecasts in openreach. I wasn't merely speaking to some random call center over the phone - it took me 2 days to get this far into people!
Unfortunately, Superfast Cymru can't tell me when Phase 11a is even planned.

Phases are really batched releases of data, not a list that has to be completed before work on the next batch starts.
FTTP is often done after all the FTTC work in an area. Increasing amounts of FTTP are appearing in Wales, so just a case of waiting.
As someone said if fibre based broadband speeds are important, then find a different property as it could be 2015 or might be 2017.

You'll find that people in certain jobs are privy to information that others are not.

Perhaps as it's not cast in stone, the person you spoke to did not want to commit themselves.
Just have a look at some of Ribbles posts, he has helped many people and obviously he has to be careful of what information he gives whatever his sources are.
There was another very helpful poster on here once who had a website which had loads of information, which the author obtained from a friend working for BT, BT have since had that website shut down!
