I see the Longmorn Exchange (NSLMN) is being updated to FTTC, as new cabinets have been installed outside the exchange building.
I was wondering if anybody knows how many other cabinets, are going in around the local area, or is this the only one.
I have tried HIE, but they didn't have any information on the subject, just that the exchange was on the roll-out for the 1st quarter of 2015.
One other question, why is there 2 cabinets outside the exchange?
Thanks

if there are two new cabs then most likely it will be to provide FTTC for the EO lines on the exchange. (You can't have FTTC on EO lines as they do not go through a cabinet). So one cab will be for the copper connections to be re-routed through turning them from EO to cab delivered lines, and the second will be the FTTC DSLAM to give the "upto 80Mbps" broadband.
|
|
|
As far as I can see there are 3 cabinets 1, 2 and 3 being installed for the moving of EO Lines.
Exchange Name: Longmorn
Exchange Code: NSLMN
[Cabinet 1]
Fibre Phase: Phase BDUK HIE 13a
Fibre Information: FTTC Planned (exchange ready 27th August 2013)
[Cabinet 2]
Fibre Phase: Phase BDUK HIE 13a
Fibre Information: FTTC Planned (exchange ready 19th May 2014)
[Cabinet 3]
Fibre Phase: Phase BDUK HIE 13a
Fibre Information: FTTC Planned (exchange ready 27th August 2013)
Seems that there are 22 blocks of EO Lines. Also seems that some EO Lines was down for FTTP in Phase BDUK HIE 12b, but this may of changed.
What's your post code?

Is there any update on how things are progressing with the upgrade to this exchange? It was listed as being scheduled for upgrade by 31/12/14 when I purchased my property last August, this then slipped to March 15, but this has now passed too.
I see that additional cabinets have been installed but the infinity tracker page seems to have gone backwards with information.
Any update would be greatly appreciated

Sorry to say I don't think its been upgraded to fibre as yet.
Seems some of the EO Lines have already moved over to PCP Cabinet 3, just done a full check on the 3 PCP Cabinets yet, bit late now.
All that I can see is that its only providing ADSL Max, so until fibre has been installed and gone live you will only be able to get "Up to" a maximum speed of 8Mbps if your lucky.
If I remember tomorrow I will check all postcodes for that exchange.
One thing I did find is the following for Cabinet 3: Fibre broadband is coming to your exchange area soon
You are connected to cabinet number 3 on Longmorn exchange, and work is currently planned to install fibre in this exchange area.
We expect the first premises in your area to be enabled for fibre within the next six months.
Please note that engineering plans and delivery timescales depend on many factors and can be subject to change. All information is based on the best view we have today using our current plans. Service availability is subject to available service provider product offerings and can be affected by technology constraints specific to your individual circumstances. And the following for PCP Cabinets 1 and 2 (not yet gone live) and remaining EO Lines: Fibre not available
You are connected to Longmorn via an 'EO (Exchange Only) line'. This means your line is connected directly to the exchange. Faster broadband is not available to you yet.
Seems that Longmorn Exchange is on the list to start soon - " Work on roll-out beginning between now and April 2015" and they are working on the Carron Exchange at the moment, and Exchanges Longmorn, Clochan, Brodie, Speybay and Tomintoul are all down to start roll out from now and End of July, so it says.

Oh well I'm off on a 4 month RAF sponsored holiday soon, hopefully it might be upgraded by the time I get back in September.
Should have known it would have been a nightmare when even getting ADSL was a near five month battle

Should have known it would have been a nightmare when even getting ADSL was a near five month battle Well you only getting ADSL and cant even get ADSL2 or ADSL2+ so that sucks right there, as for having issues even getting ADSL I understand what your going through, we have the same battle with fibre here, been waiting since end of 2011 when the rollout started and then stopped in mid install.
But hopefully its all done for when you get back

Hi GeordieJamie,
Just an update, after a walk around looking for the cabinets for the Longmorn exchange. PCP 1 is outside the the exchange, just waiting to be connected.
PCP2 (Fogwatt) well fingers crossed, I hope that will be going on a concrete hard standing, just outside the village on the main road to Elgin. Workmen have been working there on behalf of BT Openreach.
The PCP3 (outside the Birnie Inn). Looks like it has power, marked up with is number,
Oh, and I have been on those long RAF sponsored holidays many times, now look back at them and think. Well with that in mind, GeordieJamie have a safe one.

Yeah all 3 PCP Cabinets are to cater for all the EO Lines, PCP Cabinet 3 has gone live, and I am assuming PCP Cabinets 1 and 2 to go live over the next few months.
As for fibre, the Longmorn Exchange is on the to-do list and is due to start the rollout from now to the end of the month (so it says) and it seems that they are currently upgrading Exchange Carron (NSCRR).
It seems that Exchanges Longmorn (NSLMN) and Clochan (NSCLO) will be rolled out around the same time, leaving Exchanges Speybay (NSSBY), Brodie (NSBDI) and Tomintoul (NSTTL) to start rollout from now to end of July.
Hope that helps.

Just an update, looks like Fogwatt village isn't getting a cabinet. PCP2 is being sited half a mile from PCP3, strange.
I was checking street works, and found this (Longmorn Pcp2v2) From Rashcrook Farm Along C2e To Opp 1 County Houses,Birnie,Elgin)
Means that, Fogwatt village will be some 800meters to 1500meters from the main exchange (PCP1), so pickup speeds will range from, 28mbps to 15mbps, if they have a good line stats.
I still can't work out how Openreach sites these cabinets. Other houses in Coleburn, Clarkmarras are going to miss out completely, in any pickup of speeds, as they will be to far away from any of the cabinets.

Not looking great for me then as i'm basically straight opposite the Village Hall on the other side of the A941. Its frustrating but i'm sure improved communication regarding progress, would improve BT's rep no end.

Its frustrating but i'm sure improved communication regarding progress, would improve BT's rep no end. Look to your local BDUK for information as it is they who are the customer funding the project. BT tend not to provide information other than where they are carrying out upgrades as part of their commercial roll-out which isn't the case here.

Any further update on when the EO lines will be able to receive BT Infinity? I'd have a wander myself but i'm currently in Estonia till September

Hi,
Here is the state of play with our Exchange and Cabinets Locations.
PCP1 : Outside the Exchange is Live and taking orders.
PCP2 : Location, at the Juction of the A941 and Birnie turn off, Google Street View Location. It is not live and not taking orders.
PCP3 : Location just outside Birnie Pub, it is not live, and not taking orders.
I live just behind garage, so we should get around 25 Mbps to 28 Mbps, but it will depend on our line stats. I have checked my number and I am on PCP2, so I would take that you are also on this cabinet
If you need anymore information then PM me.

It begs the question which cabinet my line is connected too then, as I am basically just over the road from Fogwatt Hall. However according to the BT checker my cabinet isn't live yet. You would have thought i'd have been on the same cabinet as yourself.

Any further updates on the roll out.
I am in Troves which is connected to the same exchange, but not sure which cabinet. Anyone have any ideas of which cabinet serves Troves? When might we go live and what speeds might we get (I think we are 2.8Km from the current exchange)?
|
|
|
If you try http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome that will give your cabinet number. What does it give for your Cab number and line speed?
Is there a cabinet up towards the end of Hallowood Road?

The cabinet that is live is cab 1 and is outside the exchange, so still 2.8km from you hence why https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html is not showing FTTC availability (made a guess at where Troves was - more a farm house than a village)
new cabinets 2&3 I think will serve clusters to the south of Longmorn. Until everything is built hard to say for sure.

Are you sure you are on the Longmorn Exchange? Some parts of the area are served by Elgin and both use the 01343 dialling code.

Thanks for that.
Definitely says connected to Cabinet 1 of Longmorn Exchange.
ADSL Max - Up to 1 Mbps download speed! Wow!!!!
I haven't seen any cabinets on Hallowood road - must go for a wander and see

It is a bit more than a farmhouse!
More than 20 houses now!

Just had a look - definitely NO cabinets anywhere along Hallowood Road.
Only green things on the side of the road are dustbins! 😀 LOL

Can only go by what Google maps shows and could not find a village name, just a farm name.
In terms of cabinet 1 it is very close to this location on Google Maps which is a LONG way from you, hence why no FTTC speeds are showing as available. The long and short you are too far from the cabinet to benefit from FTTC.

I was just trying to picture it from teh last time I went through.
I have also had a look here: https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=2...
Insert LONGMORN in the Locality Box and then click <Lookup Locality>
It will return a new screen with: Locality: Longmorn, Elgin, Morayshire All Post Codes All 5 Fibre Cabinets
Click on the <All 5 Fibre Cabinets> link and four green dots will appear, click on the Minus sign to zoom out and a further dot appears towards the top right just under Moss of Barmuckity. Hover over it and it actually says P1 ... zooming in puts the cabinet in the middle of the small estate at the top of Hallowood Road - as an approximation. It could be wrong and te BT checker for the postcode there says NO!

It is wrong, see the google link I posted, the premises there can get 60 to 80 Mbps from FTTC on cabinet 1

Here are the Locations of the Cabinets for the Longmorn Exchange:
Cab 1 Outside the Exchange : Google map link : Cab 1 Longmorn Exchange Cab 1 is behind the wall, it was moved from the front of the wall then placed behind the wall.
Cab 2 Junction Of A941 Birnie Turn off : Google map link : Cab2 Birnie Turn Off Cab 2 Is on the grass area, when Streetview was updated 2015, the Cabinet was not in location
Cab 3 Outside Birnie Inn Google map link : Cab 3 Outside Birnie Inn Cab 3 On the grass area near Birnie Inn, once again it is not shown on the Streetview when it was updated in 2015.
Further to this Cab 1 is taking orders. Cab 2 and Cab3 are not taking orders, but after checking my phone details, on the ADSL checker it comes back with WBC ADSL 2+ available 15th Dec 15, so it looks like no FTTC for me, I could be wrong!!!!!!
There is no more cabinets, as I have walked the whole area. So the information from the Codelook web site is wrong, as it states 5 cabinets

So the information from the Codelook web site is wrong, as it states 5 cabinets
Codellook correctly states that there are THREE cabinets just as you say. It also states that there are currently two EO bundles which may or may not in due course be moved to a cabinet, either a new cabinet or one of the three existing.

Makes the claim of DEC 14 which was advertised when I bought my home look a little absurd now. Fingers crossed it's sorted on cabinet 2 by the time I get back from my next 4 month RAF holiday.

Just thought I'd provide people with the response I got from HI Digital
I have had a look at cabinet 2 from the Longmore Exchange are and unfortunately the situation here is quite complicated as initial modelling didnt produce the coverage we would have liked, so it has had to go back into BT planning for further review. Work is progressing, however its not a simple process. Even after the new modelling and planning is complete there are still a number of further stages; building the new cabinet, powering, lighting and testing it before it goes live. This process alone can take 3-6 months.
It is in our programme for upgrading during the first phase of our project (up to December 2016) but were unable to give a specific timeframe at the moment.

Thanks for the information. If they had put the Cabinet in the original location, which was just outside the Fogwatt village Cab 2 Original Location. it may have given a better footprint. I got this location from : Scottish Street Works Online this was over 2 years ago.
I did think that Longmorn Cabinet locations were somewhat of a hit and miss affair, we will just have to wait and see, where they are going to put the new cabinet or cabinets. Will not be holding my breath.
