Speed smashing estimates

[link to this post]

hi all,

I got in from work today to see my speeds of 71Meg down up from 61 last month, When I got it installed (in september) I was getting full 80 down for a few weeks untill I rebooted my home hub and it dropped to low 60's.

Speed estimate was 59meg and I know its just an estimate but usually there or there abouts

6. Data Rate: 11953 / 71697
7. Maximum Data Rate: 11960 / 72341
8. Noise Margin: 5.9 / 6.2
9. Line Attenuation: 0.0 / 20.2

Can anyone think as to why I am getting these speeds being about 600meters from the cab? Not that I am complaining lol

Is that 600 metres in a straight line or line length?

It is a little higher that I would expect from a 600m line, probably nearer figures for a 500m line however if it is low noise, in good condition and older thicker copper then a reasonable figure. I am at 440 metres (or thereabouts) and if interleaving is off see actual download of 72Mbps with sync a little higher

If 600m as the crow flies, then extremely good!

It's a bit over 600m using the shortest road route, would be less going as the crow flys but highly doubt it would go that route

80 would certainly have been pushing it!

I would guess that you have had interleaving on the line and it was removed giving the increase in speeds. What is your latency like? Is is better than before?

Openreach are currently rolling out G.Inp so maybe that's the reason.

I was under the impression that would only benifit lines of about 250m

Lol, no G.Inp is a retransmission technology that replaces FEC.
