Fibre delayed - can someone explain the jargon?!

We've been told that our village fibre cabinet will not be going live at Easter, when most cabinets on the exchange are due to go live.

We've been told that the delay was due to "fibre spine deployment issues" and that we'll get it by summer.

What is 'fibre spine'? Thanks!

The fibre that links your cabinet to the exchange, most often its a blocked duct that needs some roadworks to get it cleared

Well... it's sort of "jargon" for a main line of fibre passing close to your village, and probably they're trying to focus the blame on that as opposed to the direct connection of your village.

In reality though, unfortunately it means very little. Even if they spin their jargon to say "spine", "sub-spine", or "blocked ducts", and anything in between that, the fact that they're saying it is delayed is very bad news.

Hopefully someone here who has specific information about when any corrective works are planned will tell you about them, although if there are delays in the system at any point (i.e. mentions of spines or kneecaps or otherwise), then it'll be hard to predict.

No, there aren't really kneecaps, hopefully you get the idea though.
