Is there an easy way to tell if this tech is enabled on a FTTC Connection?
I have a locked 612, a Home Hub 4 and a Sam Knows (TP-Link) White Box connected.

If you monitor latency on a BQM has it suddenly risen... have speeds drop a few mb?
Other than that best thing to do is unlock the modem... if your not noticing any issues then don't worry about it and all will be done automatically upon requirement.

More curiosity.
Been seeing some odd dips in speed recently and was wondering if G.Inp might be the reason.
Its probably not, but if its not then I need to look elsewhere for the culprit.

No I don't believe that will be G.INP related but then we don't know all the facts about G.INP yet..
However the issue could be further afield ... May I ask who your Broadband provider is....
I've had similar issues due to "what is now being called congestion of the gateways"

I am with Plusnet.
Had no issues really, just over the last 2 weeks things have been more than a little "unstable".

This is very much the case - The old style of DLM intervention (FEC+interleaving) would typically drop speeds and add latency.
The whole point of G.INP, as a new style of DLM intervention, is that it reduces errors without dropping speed or increasing latency.
My line was synced at 80/20, and only hitting about 2 ES's per hour - well under any intervention threshold for the old-style DLM.
It has had G.INP activated, which has left the sync speeds alone, has made no appreciable difference to latency (I see bigger differences by gateway hopping, so it is hard to see the actual impact of G.INP), and it has dropped my error rate to zero.
At the same time, my attainable rate rose by 6Mbps down, 2Mbps up.
However...
We have seen G.INP activation cause drops in speed and increases in latency - but it appears to be mostly (perhaps entirely) down to using a modem that has not been upgraded with G.INP-capable firmware.

I've got a heap of things here - 2 HG612's from previous installations, plus an ECI from the current installation, though that only stayed on the line for the first 6 hours or so, back at the beginning of February.
One of the HG612's was on the line for a couple of weeks, registering 80/20 actual, and 98/34 attainable, and 50 ES/day. It was running B030SP08; I think I originally flashed it with B02?SP10, but didn't disable the agent - it was automatically updated a long time ago (though I never tracked the version at the time) and currently has B030SP08.
I was using a billion 8800NL as router at that time, in EWAN mode. I swapped this to being the VDSL2 modem too in mid February, which caused it to improve attainable speeds by about 1Mbps. SNR has varied since then, with one or two new subscribers, but the attainable was (prior to G.INP) sitting close to 101/33. This is running 2.32d.dh14 and A2pv6F039g1.d24m
The Billion was the one running the line when G.INP activated.
I'll eventually swap the HG612's onto the line, to check their performance out too.

So to clarify just before and during the activation of G.INP on your line yours using a Billion 8800NL for both Modem and Routing correct?

Recent posts from Billion support staff suggested otherwise, so I was prepared to have to jump back to the HG612, but it turns out the Billion coped perfectly well.

Are you on an ECI cabinet or Huawei?
As I understand ECI cabinets haven't had G.INP enabled yet.

Same result here with Billion NL as modem router .
G.INP enabled now showing some interleaving which wasnt there before ! Latency has if anything gone down 0.2ms to 19.2ms according to my AskSam monitor, ES rate gone from 5 /hr to 0 . Difficult to say what has happened to Max achievable speed (currently 107Mbps) as SNRM is constantly moving a few dB. ( has dropped 10dB since first connected).
Looking back on my Samknows stats my latency increased by 1 msec when I moved from adsL2+ to FTTC.

I would imagine it would be the opposite way round when using a locked HG612.
The reason being that a locked HG612 does not block remote BTOR firmware/software updates & there have been a few of those.
A locked HG612, assuming it has been in constant use should therefore already be G.INP capable & most users have seen improvements in latency and sync speeds since G.INP was activated with a G.INP ready HG612.
Users whose chose to block remote updates when unlocking their HG612s (for some unknown reason) appear to be the ones that have suffered when G.INP has been activated, as their firmware is still pre-G.INP.
Those users that have spotted that and then updated to the latest firmware have then seen an immediate improvement. either back to what they had previously or better.

The speeds seem to be stabilising according to the SK-White Box readings at least.
I have double checked and I have an ECI modem, not a Huwai as I thought, need to discover what cabinet I have now really. The modem was put on when I got my HH4 from Freecycle so it could well be mismatched.
Going to give PN a few more weeks before I decide if Im jumping ship.
Will be a wrench as have been with them for a while now, and its been free for most of the last 3 years as I was working for them, lol.
Going to feel odd paying for the Internet again.

Guys, just been reading about this (this thread was the first I'd heard about it as I haven't been keeping up with things and haven't been here for a long time.
So I'm connected to a Huawei FTTC cab (big green one with double doors - thanks to Roberto's site for the pic's.  ) and have a Huawei HG612 (its a B2 if I remember correctly?) with a Asus RT-N66U router, from what I've read this means I'm ok and shouldn't see any ping rises etc right?
I've not seen any difference to my connection as yet....

From what I understand, if your modem has the latest firmware you should be Ok.
It seems issues come from either mismatched Cab/Modem or from older modems with old firmware that is non G.Inp compatible.
I could well be wrong though as im a newbie to this issue myself.
