Hey there,

Since i thought the other thread was taking a bit too much space, I've decided to make a new one. This time if you live in Hampshire, East and West Sussex and Kent, you will be getting weekly updates.

Also feel free to ask for any cabinet checks for your area!

Plaxtol and Shipbourne:

Plaxtol is having fibre ducting installed by Gigaclear on the 18th. Fibre expected by June for cabs 1 & 5

Cowden:

Power to PCPE2 is currently being installed. PCPE2 is presumably an extension Cabinet for PCP2. Fibre is due by July 2015

Tenterden:

- PCP10 is having DSLAM built in 10 days. Fibre expected by August this year

- Cabling works are being taken place for PCP1. You can order fibre if you are on PCP1 already

High Halden:

PCP3 is having a combined PCP and DSLAM installation on Monday. Should have fibreoptic by the end of year

Was in East Sussex phase 3 (and cabinet built a while ago).

The rollout table on the goesussex website recently, and briefly, showed a status of moved to phase 6 with a target of the end of 2015 and now has it as Deployment phase to be advised.

My postcode is BN8 4QG and is around 2km from the cabinet in South Chailey.

Never trust go East Sussex checker. They haven't updated it since December

Thanks for looking Paul, that's all I've seen as well, apart from the 'Rollout Table' linked to via the News page on the (go)eSussex website which was last updated on 15 May.

On the BN8 search response, the village is connected to two different exchanges - just my luck to be connected to the one that's taking longer to sort out!

Any chance you could check one for me because I'm confused!

I'm on the Portslade, (East Sussex) exchange for ADSL. I'm connected to cabinet 36 and over the last few weeks a new fibre cabinet has been installed next to the old cabinet. I know its fibre enabled because I spoke to the Engineer and watched him doing a lot of the work. Since last week its been humming away quietly so it seems like its ready to go.

My postcode is BN41 2SA and my telegraph pole is about 100 yards from the cabinet. Up until today, using the BT availability checker, it always said EA and that the cabinet was being upgraded. Today its changed to Under Review which seems to say that there is some doubt as to whether I will be getting it or not.

So from licking my lips for the last few weeks I've gone to scratching my head as to why having seemingly done all the work there now saying that there seeing if the cabinet can be upgraded, (it has been!)

Any idea whats going on?

dcoppard - the checker usually goes to UR just before it changes to AO (accepting orders), keep checking back daily and it should change in the next couple of days.

That's not always true, it can stay as Under Review for months like it has for loads of people.

It "could" stay as Under Review for a while until they finish off their tests or resolve the issues that are having.

I have also seen areas go from Under Review over to Exploring Solutions due to issues.

They "might" go from Under Review to Accepting Order over the next few days (lets hope it does) but you cannot assume this, that isn't always the case.

I did a very quick check on 15 postcodes that was supposedly connected to your cabinet but seems only 175 addresses are unless I have missed some postcodes, don't really want to check 14-15K addresses to know what goes where.

I say just wait and do daily checks.

Its likely that there are only about 175 addresses attached to this cabinet as just past our road we disappear into farmland and countryside as were at the end of the line so to speak.

Just out of interest I am wondering if the BDUK site which says we are attached to fibre is including the Virgin cable system that's been here for years, or is it specific to Open Reach?

I don't really know, I assume its referring to just the fibre installed by BTOR.

I think the fibre rollout for VM is all by their own money and isn't covered by the BDUK fund.

Update on South Chailey and PCP1 at SDPLMPT (Plumpton.)

roadworks.org was updated 20/07/2015 and shows work due to begin on 03/08/2015 to install a new cabinet (PCP5) at Shepherds Way in South Chailey (BN8 4QQ).

This is about 1.5km closer to South Chailey than PCP1.

Hey guys, As I said news for cabs in Hampshire and West Sussex

Pagham PCP 20 is being installed by the WS BDUK and is expected to be enabled by the end of the year

Hayling Island PCP 23 is being installed by the Hampshire BDUK and is expected to be enabled by December under the Phase 7

Hayling Island PCP 3 is being installed by the Hampshire BDUK and is expected to be enabled by December under the Phase 7

East Marden is having more work done to complete the spine of the network

Singleton PCP 2 is having De-Silting works being completed this week. Cabinet has no date as Openreach have yet more blockages to be tackled

Midhurst PCP 6 is having a 10 day Power Connection

Plaistow PCP 2 is being installed under WS BDUK. Fibre expected by end of October.

curious as to where you getting information as most of that is not public domain !!!!

roadworks.org, hampshire bduk website and west sussex better conected. I dont hack on pcp databases. im just a customer who actually spends their time researching (which i know is sad!) lol

so either works for LA -- unlikely , Sub contractor working on behalf of one of the BDUK projects or one of the service providers -- but based on it being a around BDUK suggest the middle one

The sooner Openreach is nationalised, the better

roadworks.org was updated 20/07/2015 and shows work due to begin on 03/08/2015 to install a new cabinet (PCP5) at Shepherds Way in South Chailey (BN8 4QQ).

Work started and finished in August but no new cabinet visible. I checked availability a few days ago, Openreach are accepting orders and BT Wholesale is showing line speeds for the new cabinet.

Now waiting for my ISP to get back to me re ordering. Is there anyone on the new SDPLMT PCP5 in South Chailey who's managed to place an order yet?

Our Cabinet Brightling 1 - is now showing as enabled. Cabinet 2 doesn't seem to be ready yet.

However, a check of our district council's website shows applications for 2 new AIO cabinets - 3 and 4. What is AIO? Will lines be switched from other cabinets to thiese new cabinets? Since the proposed new cabinet 3 is much closer to me that my current cabinet 1 - should I wait until this is ready before ordering.

AIO - All In One - or usually called Onesie cabinets, i.e. traditional PCP and DSLAM are located in the same physical box.

If you are currently on cabinet 1 it is usual to remain on cabinet 1, does the council site say where cabs 3 and 4 will be located, they may be to help those on Exchange Only lines, rather than infill for others on cabinet 1 - sometimes rearrangement does happen but not seen much of that in East Sussex yet.

We used to be on cabinet #1 (2km away) on the Plumpton Exchange.

A new cabinet (#5) "downstream" of #1 and 300m away from us went live a few weeks ago to serve 125+ properties not covered by the Barcombe Exchange cabinets in South Chailey.

We're now connected to it.

So this makes a lot of sense.

Like Ron above, we live in South Chailey and we were previously served by Cabinet 1 from the Plumpton exchange. The problem is, unlike Ron it seems we have not been connected to the new Cabinet 5 only <=500m away and instead remain on Cabinet 1 2.5km away.

But here is the funniest part. I didn't even know about Cabinet 5 until I saw it appear on the latest roll out table on the goesussex website and guess what? It says it serves our post code: BN84AY!

So excited by this I went to check what fibre speed we could obtain on the bt infinity checker tool. Minimum speed of 71mbps! Brilliant. I placed an order with our existing ISP: Plusnet.

4 weeks later and 2 engineer visits (first was a contractor and marked our fibre order as complete even when it wasn't) later the conclusion from the second engineer was that we were too far away from the Cabinet to obtain fibre.

So this is where I went checking further, the BT wholesale check says we were still connected to Cabinet 1, devastated. After years of waiting and the excitement of finding we were fibre enabled we found we had to go back to 1.5mpbs adsl max again.

It took plusnet 10 days and several phone calls to sort it out, but finally we have internet again. Its not the topic, but updating to fibre and the first contractor (engineer) marking the job as complete when it wasn't, cost us 10 days of no internet access also.

I sent a PM to Ron asking if he knew anything about being moved to Cabinet 5 (since I am guessing he lives somewhere close to me) and I have also emailed the goesussex broadband team, they have contacted their contractors (BT I guess?).

I am hoping they will be able to carry out some kind of work to hook us up to Cabinet 5, but I'm trying not to keep my hopes up.

The internet here has always been awful. As Ron will know, we reside exactly between two different telephone exchanges at the maximum distance. Our Neighbours are on the Barcombe exchange whilst we are on Plumpton. Every engineer that has visited, and believe me we have probably broke records of engineer visits in the past has been astounded how we even have a connection with our line attenuation. We have at least 4km line distance to the telephone exchange.

Here are images of the checker tools, infinity checker, then two wholesale screens taken both with phone number/post code and address searches. As you can see despite it saying we are still connected to Cabinet 1, it thinks we can get almost top speed.

You may stand some chance of having the copper moved in BDUK2. West Sussex seem to have included a few areas like yours in their latest plans for the next phase so East Sussex may be the same. It seems to be more likely to happen if you are on the extreme edge of a coverage area without other premises served by your cabinet beyond you.

It is very important to contact the East Sussex BDUK folks by email and point out your plight and get as many neighbours to do the same. They only have very limited funding available for BDUK2 so make sure you shout loud!

Openreach have now instaled Brightling Cabinet 3. Instead of an 'all in one' we have a PCP and seperate fibre cabinet. The "goeastsussex" website does not mention this at all. Does anyone know whether it is BT's plan to move all subscribers in the area to this cabinet?

We have a break in service of around three hours a couple of weeks ago and I wondered whether we havd been moved - BT's checker still shows us as connected to cabinet 1 - so I guess not.

The 75+ EO lines on our development were moved to our new All In One cab more than two weeks ago however BT's checker still shows us all as still being on EO Lines so you may well have been moved with the checker yet to catch up as has happened here. Not only that but BT engineers here on two occasions in the last fortnight to make changes to customers lines were still being told that the lines were EO so not only had BT's public facing records not been updated but neither had BT's internal engineering records.

Just checked BT's checker and I [and other numbers I know in the area] are now connected to cabinet 3. The esussex rollout table does not mention cabinet 3.
