Some cabinet(s) live - mine isn't

Hi all,

I've noticed that a cabinet/some cabinets in my area have gone live and have switched to "accepting orders" on Openreach. Mine now states "Enabled Area" but we are as of yet unable to order. Does anyone know, from experience, how long it typically takes for more cabinets to be enabled? There is no mention of an estimated date on BT DSL Wholesale checker but I don't remember seeing one on the other cabinet(s) which have just gone live.


I'm on cabinet 4, postcode G668JS. Cabinet 2 is live, postcode G668DD.

I've also phoned my ISP Sky who claimed that it won't be available within the next 3 months, despite an adviser stating that it would be coming within that time just last week. This seems to contradict what it says on Openreach's website "Your area is enabled for Superfast Fibre but your cabinet is not ready yet so you can't place an order today. It is in our plans to be upgraded and we update this info weekly, so please check back later."

Plenty of exchanges left that saw their first cab in 2010 and still waiting for the last one to be done.

Digital Scotland are the people to talk to who will have a vague idea of timescales, it is planned but cannot give an exact date.

I've tweeted them, is that the best way?

I don't think BT/BTOR answer their Tweets, but I may be wrong.

Well most companies don't know what each hand is doing, and its the same for most ISP.

I would go by what BTOR say due to they are the ones installing the fibre.

The cabinet went live this morning, a few days after the others in the area. Order placed, should be on in a fortnight.

The first cabs on my exchange went live in October 2010.

This weekend's post detailing the latest RFS cabinets show the first cabinet having gone live from North Yorkshire's BDUK phase 2 project, and also showed a cabinet having just gone live within the commercial rollout too.
