Hi there was curious to see if my speeds will change when my cabinet gets fibre? not sure how it all works but im currently on a 3km line and get a ok speed of 6mb, i know i wont benefit from fttc but will it impact my current mediocre speeds? e.g congestion or some other technical thing?
Thanks

On Adsl or adsl2+ now?
Sometimes adsl2+ arrives as well so may give a bit of a speed lift too.
Otherwise the fact offers now have fttc will make no difference to you

Ive gone from a 1.7KM line and 8/1 to 76/18 so yes the fibre cabinet is usually in your street or nearby
My line to the exchange is now about 100M

Not to bad but i'm out in the sticks at the moment and its 3 km give or take as the copper line follows the road to my nearest town so my distance will most likely remain the same unless they put a cabinet into the smaller village nearby which i very highly doubt, was just worried incase fibre impacted those on long lines as we will be using the same copper lines for those getting fibre speeds closer to the cabinet, but guess i will have to wait for a long line "solution"

I doubt it. Your line to exchange will now be longer than the previous 1.7km.
You distance to cabinet might be 100m but certainly not to te exchange.

I found when fibre got enabled at my cabinet/exchange that my adsl2+ connection was more stable and slightly faster. Can only assume as people move to fibre less crosstalk on adsl?

It's not mentioned whether the OP has a cabinet close to his home - presumably the 3km is to the exchange.
If so, he could get faster speeds (via FTTC) depending on the distance to the cabinet, no?

My exchange and cabinet are a 1 minute walk from each other, so i'd say a total distance of about 3.1km, don't know if that help thanks for the post

Seen roadworks going on outside my cabinet today, went to roadworks website to see what they where upto but nothing would show on the map, do they update the maps for Scotland or is there a separate website? Thanks

My line is 3km and ADSL2+ used to sync at 4.5Mbit and ADSL used to sync at 6.5Mbit.

Yes I'm a little worried about being pushed up to adsl2 I'm currently syncing at 7156kbps and an ip profile of 6Mbps, which is decent on a long line, I can't really complain as there are people in a worse situation, if I do I hope it doesn't impact me to much adsl2
