FTTPoD was stopped because it was taking too long to do each job. When combined with demand, the consequent queues were affecting their overall ability to deploy *all* their leased line products.
They are currently trialling new methods of deploying fibre, in an effort to make each individual line quicker, cheaper, and more predictable. This involves new types of fibre, a new push/pull blowing technique, less splicing, and more connectorisation. All to reduce the amount of blockages that cause delays, and the amount of work on making each connection.
We might hear more in the autumn.
