MK3 Openreach Socket

Hi Guys,
I have Openreach MK3 Socket and BT Home Hub 5
HH5 is rubbish

What modem/router do i need to use ?
It s standard ADSL cable from MK3 Socket but ADSL modem does not pickup line
There is no WAN Port or cable from socket

Has your VDSL2 service ever actually worked? And one assumes you are connecting a RJ11 modem cable from the top socket on the MK3 faceplate to the DSL port on the HH5.

It is possible you have a duff HH5, what has BT support said?

Top end range pricing is kit like the Asus DSL-AC68U at £139.99 which a few around here use and are happy with.

Yeah ADSL cable comes out from MK3 socket into DSL port on HomeHub 5, this works correctly and all is well (issue with Port Forwarding which Is why I wish to change Routers).
Do not need anything High-End, just a simple Router/Modem on which PortForwarding works correctly.
Local Shop sold me a TP-Link TD-W8968 Router, but the ADSL Light just flashes and does not make a connection.
Using Usual Password [email protected] and any password (does not accept blank).
Not sure whats went wrong ?

If you are on Infinity then that is VDSL2 and will not work with the TP Link device you bought, if you told the shop it was for Infinity then take it back as it does not have a built in VDSL2 modem (If you have an Openreach VDSL2 modem you could use the Ethernet WAN port on the TP-Link though)

When you say port forwarding works correctly, what is the actual issue, otherwise a risk people will suggest kit that may still have a similar problem.

A TP Link device with a built in VDSL2 modem is the TP-LINK TD-W9980 at £62

I guess I am correct in saying the W9980 Uses ADSL cable and not WAN cable

Port Forwarding issue was in relation to plex, since I moved to Home Hub 5 I have had nothing but problems. Previous Router was TP-Link TL-WDR3600 and was used in conjunction with BT Openreach Modem.
Since moved house and new setup done away with Openreach modem and installed MK3 Socket.
Setup Port 32400 to forward and it works sometimes and others cannot not see plex at all. Had no issues with old setup.

Yes both the devices i linked to use the dsl cable connection

Just to confirm (sorry) DSL Cable is from MK3 Socket to above router (vdsl socket on router) - there is no requirement for BT Openreach Modem ?
