As per there is a silly comment on there ie
"The cabinet is well away from the road - no need for traffic control at all...
Typical jobsworth BT Open Reach muppets "
So he thinks OR like to pay out £000's for traffic control just for the fun of it !
And so far from the road that a car has taken it out ! The poor late cab was just sitting there humming away RIP

If you look at the right-hand column of the page, the "Most Popular" stuff.
It seems a good place to keep away from. May also explain the comment from someone thinking somebody had died there.
I wonder if the car driver's insurance is going to have to cough up for the replacement cabinet!
Why might the road need digging up though Bert? Assuming the cables to a PCP across the road need replacing, or similarly a power cable, shouldn't those be safely in ducting?

The ducting looked slightly damaged in some of the photos so might be a need for a dig to repair this
As for the bill - then yes will be an expensive claim if they are actually insured.

Wonder what the actual replacement costs will be - what's the going rate for an FTTC cabinet? Maybe similar cost to if the driver had written off someone's shiny new BMW?
|
|
|
|
The concrete base will need to be repaired/ replaced and cosequently the ducts may have to be dug up and replaced
|
|
|
Around 20k to 25k mark but labour will be a big variable and if power was damaged will be time constrained by power people too

Add to that the small amount of compensation each user gets for every day of service lost! 40 days for 100 users at maybe £3/day and there is another £12000 ...
BT will have had staff out to make it safe, managing the replacement process, cost recovery team (a friend works in one of the BT teams), traffic control application/licence ... it soon mounts up! And where BT can recover their costs dues to third party negligence, they will.

Of course the insurers will have to pay for this. That's assuming this wasn't an uninsured driver of course. It is going to be expensive.

I suspect you are right ( ), but what splendid isolation! And not a PCP in sight in any direction.

Just need to turn to the left and its on the island.
But that PCP is 100-150m away from the damaged FTTC cab, i thought all FTTC cabs were normally within 50m of its PCP twin?

Dumbo me looked at it and took it for the FTTC cabinet . I didn't increase the magnification to examine it.
I assume the FTTC cabinet was close to it on the island.
