FTTC slower than old ADSL2+ connection

A friend of mine has recently upgraded from ADSL2+ to VDSL FTTC, however the general speed has gone from 5/1 to 3/1, this has been connected around a week now and the speed does not appear to be going up. We have tried the test socket and swapped out everything we can.

Any recommended actions? Line stats are as follows:

I suggest you xxxxx out the WAN IP address while we think about it.

The answer is probably that he is just too far away from the FTTC cabinet to benefit. Please can you do the following, to see if that shows as likely.

I see that he is with TalkTalk. Is that direct or through a reseller?

If it's direct I expect his phone line is with them as well, but if through a reseller it is possibly still a "BT" line.

Using this checker it will fail using the phone number if it is LLU TalkTalk, but if a BT line it will work. Assuming it fails, use the Address option. NOT the pure postcode one.

Please copy and paste the contents of the estimates box, preferably including the line above it but editing out the phone number or address.

Got telephone extensions in the property, they have a bigger impact on FTTC, so worth testing at the test socket and see if things improve

It isn't distance then - I assume those estimates were using the Full Address?

As MrSaffron says is the next step.

Tried the test socket, no phones and new microfilter.

There is no extensions anyway, they were ripped out and disconnected years ago.

I tried unplugging the router for around 45 mins and plugged it in with similar results. Do the noise details look ok?

The results are from exact address and resemble the estimates provided before sign-up.

If you mean the noise safety coefficients in your OP, yes.

Re the extensions, it depends what you mean by they were disconnected and ripped out.

If they were fed from the back of the master socket faceplate, are their wires still connected there?

If instead there is a junction box somewhere inside the house where the master and the extensions are all fed from, what happened to all the wires at that junction box?

There is probably a very small external box very soon after the incoming wire hits the house. That's not the one. It should be the first box inside the house fed from that one.

We had a new master socket fitted a number of years ago. I made the engineer disconnect any extensions and garbage on the line it was effectively right in to the building then a master socket with no extensions or anything else coming off.

Speeds pretty much doubled when that was done at the time.

How close to the master socket is the router? I'm assuming it is an TalkTalk integrated VDSL2 modem/router.
