Fibre available to half the houses in our street

We live in a group of 12 houses, all fed from the same green cabinet and yet according to the BT openreach checker. Nearly 2 years ago it said that our house should be getting fibre soon, 6 months later the status changed to accepting orders. We called and switched to BT but were told that it wasnt quite ready yet, but should be in a matter of weeks, 18 months later and the houses on the other side of the road still say 'accepting orders' but the houses on our side of the street are 'exploring solutions'.

Does anyone know what this really means? ive heard a lot about errors in the BT database meaning that people who could get fibre are being told they cant. Is there anyway to check for sure.

We are desperate to get better speeds as we currently get about 1.4mbps on a really good day!

It is possible for the cable distance to be a lot longer particularly if its the other side of the street, i.e. cables often go down a single side rather than zig zagging along the road.

Another possibility is that you are on different cabinets, have you confirmed the same cabinet numbers.

Beyond that to find out anymore then need to know the postcode for both those that can order and those that cannot.

This happened on our estate, we had to contact Connecting Cheshire who got in contact with Openreach. There had been an issue with the database which they sorted out.

Key thing to check is are you on different cabs, you can check this by entering house number and postcodes on http://www.dslchecker.bt.com. At the top on the results page it will show you the cab number, if you are all on the same cab it will be a database error.
