FTTP on demand available for me!

Just being curious, I checked with the ADSL checker to see if their estimates have been updated for my estate as they were very conservative with an estimate for me of 35Mbps but I get about 65Mbps. Anyhow, that's besides the point. To my surprise, this is what it now says:

Does that mean that n theory, I could order FOD? If so, that would obviously incur costs i.e digging up roads wouldn't it?

It might mean that.

That temporary hold was dated January this year so it might be a little old. Also, I checked last week on the checker and FOD wasn't available as I WOULD have noticed

I was told by a BT Engineer a couple of months ago that they were possibly going to trial something (he was very vague!) at my exchange so maybe that it?!?

That's the Openreach Price List, not BT Wholesale. I've never managed to find a BT Wholesale one.

There are experiments going on to do with a cheaper version of FTTPoD. I can't put a finger on a search term for the News Archive, but I'm sure Andrew has mentioned it a few times.

There's also Long range VDSL2.

FoD orders are still on hold, or were when I asked that question on 23rd September 2015, its one of my regular ones.

Thanks Roberto - perhaps Andrew will pick this up in a bit and have some possible answers. It would be nice to get a little more on what this means the me. I wonder if Ribble would have any inside info?

Thanks for that Andrew. Very interesting. Is there any way of finding out if they've extended a trial to my area? Just seems strange the checker suddenly says fttpod available if it isn't. Don't think it's a checker error as other exchanges around here don't see to be showing it.

Loads of exchanges have had it on them for years, down to the retail ISP to interpret for you.

The trial areas don't show up on the checker as such, the providers taking part know the trial areas and should be pro-actively contacting potential customers to volunteer

For you now it means nothing, just that things may change in the future.
