Been waiting years for this! FTTC has finally come available this morning, finally DSL checker is showing available.
How long does it normally take for SKYs DB to update so i can place an order? Rung SKY and they said it can take weeks!

As long as Sky wants it to be, there is no legal requirement for them to move mountains to have it available from day 1.

I was more meaning how long does there database usually take to update?
EE, BT, ZEN all have updated, just hoping someone might know if SKY only updates every 24 hours for example.
The exchange has had Fibre for a long time, just not my cab.

Have Sky confirmed they have installed their connections to the fibre infrastructure? I believe Sky need to do some stuff in the exchange before they launch so it may not be just a simple database update.

Other people on different cab but same exchange have SKY FTTC.

I would imagine they already have gea connections atvthe headend so its likely to e entirely in Skys hands.

OK, then hopefully it won't be too long - I am sure they want to get money out of people as soon as they can.

Round my way, I could order from Sky the day after the cab went live.

That's good then. All in Skys hands now

Thanks guys... now the my only decision is do I go for 40/10 or 80/20

Just spoke to someone at Sky and they advised me to order with someone else, said at this minute they don't know when I will be able to order.
How can SKY be so bad compared to everyone else at taking the order? If I check EE, TalkTalk and BT all say I can order.
Id switch but I have only just signed up for 12 months broadband with SKY.

Is 210 perhaps on a different L2S Ribble?

I suspect not

Able to order this morning so looks like there is a 24 hour delay between cab being activated and sky allowing orders.
Shame it will take until the 26th to go live. I would have thought it could be done quicker than that seen I already have the adsl service with router that supports fttc so no engineer visit needed.

I'd be wary and go for the 40/10 first, as you can always upgrade, but downgrading is more difficult. But check what speeds you can actually get.

We work from home a lot and have to send big files so having 20mbps upload will make a big difference.
I'm really close to the cab so expected speed is the full 80/20

An engineer still needs to go to the cabinet and make the connection.
The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 59999/14372kbps @ 600m. - BQM
