Yes, this is the sort of thing I was thinking. The good thing is that there is a fax line in, with luck using the second pair in the EO cable.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 59999/14372kbps @ 600m. - BQM

This is postcode LE12 7LZ, right?

Codelook shows that this postcode is covered by 3 cabinets and 3 EO bundles ... but the coverage percentage adds up to 151%

That usually means a cabinet is being added for EO lines - and this case, looks like cabinet 12. It is marked as "FTTC Planned" as part of the phase 1 BDUK work.

Cabinet 10 is also planned, but by the phase 2 SEP project, so it might be a while longer.

I actually found out what was happening this afternoon. I contacted superfast Leicestershire who look after the funds for bduk in the Leicestershire region.

They replied with the following,

Good news we have checked the postcode and a new cabinet is being built in High St Sileby to serve the EO lines. The new cabinet has not been built yet but will be stood soon and should go live by the March 2016 when you will be able to upgrade to FTTC.

A bit further away than cab 1; around 400-500 metres, depending where on the High St it gets located.

Speeds of 40-60Mbps seem most likely ... unless the cable takes a really strange route.
