It's not often......

It's not often that people want to congratulate BT Openreach or their local BDUK funded project.

I would like to say congratulations to both BT Openreach and Digital Scotland for the speedy activation of my local cabinet a mere 19 days after it was stood!

Wow that must be a record lol! Mine was just over 3 months for fibre cab and new PCP and I thought that was pretty quick!

It was a long wait overall but the sprint finish was most definitely welcome.

Dunno about it being a record though. Can anybody else top 19 days?

Well we can top it the other direction of 4 years with all the fibre infrastructure being there since Oct - Dec 2011 when BTOR started the original 66% Commercial Rollout and only did half our road and side roads.

Granted this is for the Commercial FTTP Project and we all know that the commercial projects are impacted with delays due to all the BDUK work especially the Commercial FTTP Projects, this has also been confirmed by several BTOR Fibre Engineers that I have stalked (LOL) in my area to ask for some information.

But saying that we as well as our local MP have now been given a "projected" ready date for the rest of our area by the end of November 2015 and that's not an "estimated" date, so lets hope end of November it is.
We (as in us and or our local MP) have also been told if we have any more issues to contact BT's Head of parliamentary affairs, but hopefully it will all go well.

I have been getting ready to bake a chocolate birthday cake (LOL) with 4 candles on it one for each year BTOR have delayed our install.

Being on our exchanges outer edges isn't a good thing due to noise and also being the last pole on our PCP Cabinet.

So hopefully the FTTP upgrade goes without a hitch.

So 3 weeks to go.

Yes. The majority of crosstalk comes from the pair(s) that lie closest to yours in the cable bundle ... and the use of tie pairs between the two cabinets guarantees that, for part of the journey at least, your line will have a close neighbouring line that also carries VDSL2 frequencies.

There's a great "heatmap" matrix from a Danish trial, that shows the relationship between disturber/victim lines. The red squares are the bad ones...

The only noteworthy thing is that G.INP isn't active.

That means DLM will be watching your error rate (in particular the "ES" counter).

Although this has reached 333, it isn't clear how long this has taken. I was fine with ES's running at 600-800 per day, though this was an ISP that had ordered the line with DLM to be given the laxest threshold settings.

That document from the Danish trial is an interesting read. The ES errors are over several days so will keep an eye on the G.INP figures (INP DMT SYMBOL ?) to see if that changes.

If it changes to something larger than 30, then G.INP has activated. A few other things will change as well.

If that value changes to something less than 10, then DLM has intervened old-style - other things will change, but you'll most likely notice the increase in latency most.

Note that G.INP can only activate on Huawei cabinets. The ECI cabinets haven't gone through the upgrade yet.
